EVP, Managing Director, PHD East
Steve Piluso comes to PHD after 9+ years at GroupM’s flagship agency, Mindshare where, most currently, he led content strategies and solutions in Mindshare’s branded entertainment unit, developing growth plans while bridging the gap between original content and traditional media for many of the marketing service agency’s top clients. He worked closely with the agency’s planning and buying teams, leveraging insights, emerging technology, driving media value, and helping to define and measure success.
Before joining the branded content division, Steve led the Consumer Card Services Group and Open Small Business Network for the agency’s American Express account. In that role he led original cross-platform and CardMember gated content initiatives and audience engagement platforms for the financial services giant that led to tangible business results.
Steve joined Mindshare in 2000 and was initially tasked with launching and growing IBM’s co-marketing alliance programs. He quickly rose through the ranks to become the head of the U.S. strategic media team on the business.
He began his career in the media department at Young & Rubicam in New York in 1993 in the strategic planning group. Working for clients such as U.S. Army Recruiting Command, Kraft Foods and Xerox Corporation, he developed strong media fundamentals and distinguished himself as a creative thinker and trusted, collaborative client advocate.
He left Y&R/Mediaedge in August of 1999 and, after a brief stint at Messner, Vetere, Berger, MacNamee & Schmetterer where he launched Intel Corporation’s various Business-to-Business initiatives, landed at Mindshare and was assigned to IBM.
Steve is a graduate of Boston College with dual B.A. degrees in English and Philosophy. A member of MENSA and the Audit Bureau of Circulations Business Publisher’s Advisory Committee, Steve is also an avid golfer, cyclist, fitness enthusiast, and photographer. He also enjoys movies, music, college football and watching the Yankees play (and win) in the Bronx.
