Michael is the CEO of Definition 6, the unified marketing agency he founded in 1997. Michael has consistently refined the agency's focus over the years, helping it evolve from the largest independent digital agency in the Southeast to one of the fastest-growing unified marketing agencies in the country.
Michael is credited with developing the agency's Unified Marketing Strategy model, which helps clients adapt to the reality of marketing in an always-on world, uniting brands and people in motion. Michael and Definition 6 have helped generate over $15 Billion in revenue for clients since founding the firm.
In 2010, Michael secured investment from Navigation Capital Partners to help the agency expand nationally. Following the investment, he led the acquisition of Creative Bubble, establishing the agency's NYC office and giving the agency the full capabilities of an in-house video and audio production agency. He also led the acquisition of Leach Communications, a NYC-based public relations agency, giving Definition 6 in-house public relations and strategic communications capabilities.
Over the course of his 18-year career, Michael has worked in traditional advertising, management consulting and interactive marketing roles working with global clients including Disney, Coca-Cola, BellSouth, The Home Depot, Edwards Baking Company, LaQuinta Inns & Suites, Gables Residential, Extended Stay Hotels, VeriFone and the Brawny, Dixie and Vanity Fair Brands of Georgia Pacific. Michael regularly counsels executives on unified marketing strategy and execution.
He dedicates much time to the Atlanta community. He is a Leadership Atlanta Alumni, and is serving on the board of the Atlanta Jewish Federation. He is a member of the Atlanta Rotary Club and was former Chairman of Federation's CEO roundtable and was Chairman of the 2005 and 2006 Bob Strickland Memorial Golf Classic benefiting the Arthritis Foundation.
In 2005, Michael was selected as one of the Entrepreneurs of the Year by Catalyst Magazine. Michael was awarded the 2004 Small Business Person of the Year Award by the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. He was also listed as one of the Up and Comers "Under 40 and Rising - 50 of Atlanta's Most Promising Young Stars" in the Atlanta Business Chronicle. In 2008, Michael was honored with the AeA (formerly the American Electronics Association) Spirit of Endeavor Award.
Michael is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communications. Prior to this earlier entrepreneurial effort, Kogon was Business Development Director for the Mescon Group. Kogon began his career as an account executive at Pringle Dixon Pringle, an Atlanta-based advertising, marketing and public relations agency.
Michael is a frequent speaker at national industry events and conferences, and regularly shares his thought leadership through Defining Insights, Definition 6's company blog.
Michael resides in the city of Sandy Springs with his wife Laurie and daughters Eve and Leah May.
