Laura Martin joined Needham & Company in 2009. At Needham, she continues to publish research on large U.S. entertainment, cable and media companies. Prior to joining Needham, she founded Capital Knowledge (www.CapKnowledge.com), a financial consulting firm providing expert witness testimony, capital markets advice, and valuation services to senior management teams in 2004. In the same year, she also founded Media Metrics, LLC, publishing independent research about America’s largest entertainment, cable and internet companies, including Disney, News Corp., Time Warner, CBS, Viacom, Comcast, Google, Yahoo and eBay.
She founded and became managing partner of Media Metrics, LLC publishing equity research on the largest entertainment, cable and internet stocks in the U.S. Media Metrics, LLC was nationally ranked as “Best of the Independent Research Boutiques” by Institutional Investor for many years. Her research was distributed through Soleil Securities. Prior to that, she served as EVP of Financial Strategy & Investor Relations at Vivendi Universal in Paris. Laura has over 25 years of experience in the media and entertainment coverage universe, having joined Drexel, Burnham, Lambert’s investment banking division in 1983, and Capital Research & Management in 1990, where she managed $500 million of media equities. She also previously worked at Credit Suisse First Boston, where she was nationally ranked by Institutional Investor for four years in the cable & entertainment industries. She holds a BA in International Relations from Stanford and an MBA from Harvard. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
