With an ever-expanding range of content and top-tier creators driving viewership, YouTube has become a dominant force in the streaming landscape. According to Nielsen, YouTube has held the top spot as the #1 streaming platform, outperforming major competitors like Netflix, Hulu, Max, and Prime Video over the last year and a half. However, it’s not just viewership that sets YouTube apart—it also excels in key areas that influence media planning and buying decisions, as evidenced by a recent survey conducted by The Myers Report.

Key findings revealed that YouTube excels in areas such as large audience reach and brand safety—top considerations for professionals in the broadcast/cable/streaming/CTV category. Among the 12 factors evaluated, Contextual Relevance of Content and Availability of Innovative and Creative Opportunities emerged as growing priorities. These attributes, combined with programmatic and automated capabilities, have solidified YouTube's reputation as a key player in the streaming advertising world.

YouTube’s continued dominance is in large part due to its vibrant creator ecosystem, which produces high-quality, engaging content, whether they’re hour-long video essays and podcasts, or bite-sized YouTube Shorts.. Many of its top performers are creators who have been prominent figures on the platform for several years, many dating as far back as 2005.

October promises to be an exciting month, with several highly anticipated premieres:

- The 25th season of Hot Ones, part of the First We Feast channel, launches new episodes Thursdays at 11:00 am ET. Emmy-nominated host Sean Evans puts celebrity guests in the ‘hot seat’ for in-depth interviews regarding their craft, careers, and upcoming projects as they munch their way through progressively spicier chicken wings. Last season’s celebrity guests included pop icon Ariana Grande; Deadpool & Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman; pop darling Sabrina Carpenter; Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o; and Thor himself Chris Hemsworth. Evans’ thoughtful, carefully curated questions paired with the show’s clever reaction editing has made Hot Ones one of the biggest shows on YouTube with 300+ episodes since 2015 and over 3 billion views.

- Good Mythical Morning, the daily program hosted by YouTube veterans Rhett & Link, features their classic humor, wacky experiments, and surprising guests to their millions of followers as part of their umbrella of Mythical content. Fan-favorite guests include Jack Black, Terry Crews, Bill Hader, Mayim Bialik, and Daniel Radcliffe. Since its launch in 2012, the channel has amassed nearly 19 million subscribers and 9.6 billion views

- Part of Rhett & Link’s Mythical Entertainment, Last Meals is hosted by Chef Josh Scherer and offers “deep (and deeply hilarious) talk about life, death, and food” with celebrity guests about their final meal choices, including chef Gordon Ramsey, Tom Hanks, YouTubers Brittany Broski and Hank Green, comedian Gabriel Iglesias, and Hot Ones host Sean Evans. In just five years, the channel has earned 3.3 million subscribers and 900 million views.

- Brittany Broski’s Royal Court features hilarious conversations with guests from across entertainment as they complete challenges to join Broski’s coveted council: The Royal Court. Guests have ranged from YouTube sensations Bretman Rock and Hasan Piker to Twisters star Daisy Edgar-Jones and the artist behind the viral summer 2024 Brat, Charli XCX. With Brittany’s signature humor and infectious laugh, Royal Court has quickly become a fan-favorite interview series/game show.

- Dubbed “YouTube’s Daredevil”, Michelle Khare’s popular Challenge Accepted series follows her through a variety of challenges and training academies including training like an Olympic Boxer, a Marine, a Secret Service agent, a flight attendant, a hostage negotiator and even going through a nuclear war simulation. The channel will premiere its first-ever feature-length episode Challenge Accepted: 90 Day Black Belt on October 27 where Khare will attempt to train and earn a black belt in taekwondo in just 90 days. Given that the discipline often takes adults several years to earn, we’re eager to see how far she gets in the process.

- Sam + Colby’s Hell Week will feature three new videos leading up to Halloween as the duo pledges to spend seven nights in the most haunted school in America, offering viewers spine-chilling experiences as they explore the paranormal. The massively successful channel has featured appearances from Joe Rogan, pop singer Bella Poarch, and YouTuber and former Streamys host Larray. Sam + Colby have created over 350 videos and amassed 13 million followers, with 1.8 billion views, with their next batch of videos slated to debut on their channel on October 20, 23 and 27.

YouTube's innovative and creative opportunities for brands and creators help the platform stay ahead in a crowded marketplace, and with a lineup of must-see content from creators like First We Feast, Rhett & Link, Sam & Colby, and more, along with consistent advertiser satisfaction. Stay tuned for more updates and insights as YouTube continues to lead the way in streaming and advertising innovation.
