This past July, She Runs It (formerly Advertising Women of New York) brought together the marketing, media and communications communities in Chicago for the Stages Summit, a transformative experience featuring personal storytelling from female leaders. Throughout the event women spoke openly and candidly on challenges faced and lessons learned, inspiring attendees at every stage of their career. Empowerment, a major theme of the Stages Summit, can come from any number of sources -- work, friends, family. For Sarah Personette, Facebook’s Head of Global Business Marketing, singing opera has empowered her to be the woman she is today.
To open the Stages Summit, Sarah serenaded the audience with Puccini’s famed aria “O Mio Babbino Caro.” By expressing herself through song, she set the tone for the morning’s agenda, which offered perspective on “who we are.”
