Sinclair Broadcast Group has harvested a bumper crop of superstars during the past few years. In 2024 alone, two young Sinclair employees were honored with McIntosh Scholarships, an award MFM created in honor of Steve McIntosh, former Vice President/General Manager of Belo Advertising. In this episode of “Up & Comers,” we speak with Jeanette St. Amant, a supervisor in Sinclair’s Business Development group. St. Amant and her Sinclair colleague and fellow McIntosh Scholarship recipient Kayla Bower were highly visible at the 2024 MFM Annual Conference in Jacksonville, where they enthusiastically participated in the sessions, networking, and other events at the conference.
St. Amant, who before joining Sinclair in 2020 worked for The University of Maryland Medical System for nearly five years, was looking for a new opportunity, and Sinclair was among her final candidates. She admits she didn’t know a lot about the company -- other than the fact her parents were avid viewers of Sinclair’s WACH-TV in Columbia SC -- but saw the chance for some new experiences. “I was really interested in the ad hoc work --- I think the [job] with Sinclair just really stood out because it wasn’t in a defined box. It looked like the opportunities were endless.”
St. Amant took the job and has since been promoted from Senior Financial Analyst to Supervisor. She’s had to learn to delegate more effectively “If I don’t delegate than I won’t be able to grow as individual, and I also won’t help others either,” she said, but her supervisor has encouraged her in that challenge. St. Amant said she was so impressed with the speakers at the Annual Conference that one of her goals in the next five years is to speak at a conference herself. Keep your eyes open for this Up & Comer to be on the agenda soon.
