New York City venue The Glasshouse was the site last night of Telemundo's 2023 Upfront presentation. Sharing sneak peeks of upcoming 2023-24 content in entertainment, news, sports and beyond, Beau Ferrari, Chairman of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, invited the attendees to "Come with Us," reminding everyone of the power and influence of the U.S. Latino audience.
"Latinos are the demographic and economic growth engine of our country -- one of the most important opportunities for business in America," Ferrari (pictured below) said in his remarks. "We are 63 million strong, spending nearly two trillion dollars a year on all of your products. We are young, dynamic consumers transforming every aspect of society, shaping the mainstream, and defining some of the most important cultural moments in our country."
Ferrari shared that Telemundo reaches 98% of Hispanic households in the U.S. and eight out of 10 Hispanics every single month, dubbing Telemundo "America's No. 1 Spanish-language content powerhouse" and "the fastest-growing broadcast network regardless of language." Some of Telemundo's tentpole shows, like super-series El Señor De Los Cielos, have dominated their timeslot regardless of language, and maintained the No. 1 spot on Peacock.
"Our specials, including the Latin Billboard Awards, rank No. 1 on broadcast and cable regardless of language," Ferrari continued. "Today, Noticias Telemundo delivered the largest share at 6:30 p.m. in Nielsen history. The FIFA World Cup dominated across every platform. It was our biggest Men's World Cup and the most-streamed World Cup in media history."
"Latinos are defining pop culture in America," he added. "That's why everything we do at Telemundo is anchored on our mission to elevate, celebrate and connect Latinos and our culture. We are storytellers, we capture moments that matter to all of us by creating the world's most compelling content."
Ferrari was followed by such Latino luminaries actors Rafael Amaya and William Levy, Miss World runner-up Andrea Meza, influencer and music artist Chiky Bom Bom, Telemundo Deportes' Ana Jurka, Noticias Telemundo anchors Julio Vaqueiro and Vanessa Hauc, and La Mesa Caliente host Myrka Dellanos. Then dozens of dancers took the stage as an extended sizzle reel showcasing Telemundo's upcoming 2023/24 programming was projected behind them.
Also highlighted during the sizzle reel were some of the biggest names in Latin entertainment, including Bad Bunny on the cover of Time, the first-ever issue to be all in Spanish; Guillermo del Toro's Oscar win for Pinnochio; Argentina's victory at the 2022 FIFA Men's World Cup; Queen of Salsa Celia Cruz getting her very own commemorative U.S. quarter, and stars like Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Selena Gomez, George Lopez and more.
