“The Brady 'kids' wanted to be involved as they have the memories and that first-hand experience and perspective that none of us have,” she continued. “But they needed people with experience, who could actually do the stuff! I mean Eve (Plumb) had experience, as did some of the [other] Bradys like Mike (Lookinland), who's construction background was great. They'd all done different things, [such as] home renovation for themselves or their kids. Everyone had experience with something, even if it was just painting a room. So, [learning] what their experiences had been was really interesting, but HGVT really did call in all the big guns!”
According to Roth, “If you were on the HGTV roster, it was a case of you being a part of the deal.” Even though she was busy filming Hidden Potential, joining A Very Brady Renovation was a no-brainer. “I was like, ‘yes, I'll do it!’ It sounded like an amazing opportunity and even if I weren't available, I would have dropped everything. When I said ‘available’ that may have been a stretch, as I was filming Hidden Potential at the same time.
“Thankfully we shoot that in Huntington Beach, which isn't too far from the Brady house, so if I had a day off from filming my show, I'd get all my job sites lined up and run back at night to check on what was happening back there, so it all worked out,” she continued. “It was a huge project, and something that none of us as individual hosts could have tackled. It took the whole team and then some. When you watch the show, you can see how much of a massive undertaking it really was.”
Roth told me that seeing the completed Brady home for the first time was, “just soooo cool!” But for her, the experience was something more than just a renovation and reveal. She got to share the experience like no one else, along with the beloved cast of the series. “It was cool to see it through the Brady kid’s eyes,” she smiled. “I got to take them through the spaces I’d worked on, which they’d also worked on, but I’d kick them out before they were completed so I could finish them. Opening that front door ... [that] was such an incredible experience. Viewers will get to experience it too, but [for me], that experience was so special.”
As was the title bestowed upon her by the surviving cast members of The Brady Bunch. “It's official!” she shared. “When the Brady kids tell you you are now the seventh Brady, it feels really good!”
