Hallmark Media is expanding their legacy Mahogany brand with a new content initiative, and entering the burgeoning world of scripted podcasts. On August 24, devoted Hallmarkies will be able to enjoy Crimson Hearts Collide on all major podcast platforms, with new installments of the eight-part original romance series dropping each Thursday. “I’m thrilled for fans to experience the heart of our powerful Hallmark storytelling in this new, accessible, and rapidly growing medium,” said Hallmark Media’s Senior Vice President, of Programming Development, Toni Judkins of the exciting new venture. “Listeners will fall in love with the enchanting story of Crimson Hearts Collide, which is sure to invite more people into the passionate, vibrant world of Mahogany programming."
Described as a “soulful romance”, Crimson Hearts Collide follows driven New York City-based lawyer Sonora Williams, whose life is upended after receiving a letter explaining her uncle has passed away. After being raised in the foster care system, the news is surprising as growing up, she believing she had no family. Adding to her surprise is he left her a farm in Greenville, Alabama, which raises the question, ‘Did he know of her existence, and if so, why did he never contact her?’ Desperate for answers, Williams journeys to the farm where amidst the workers running things, she encounters Zeke Summers, a handsome cowboy with whom she takes a shine, and an uncooperative cousin who’s not at all happy about Sonora’s arrival.
Featuring an all-star cast that includes Malinda Williams (Soul Food) as Sonora, and Keith D. Robinson (Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday) as Zeke (both pictured above), Crimson Hearts Collide marks a milestone for Hallmark Media, with its first-ever scripted podcast. It’s also a milestone in their continued extension of Hallmark’s iconic 30+ year legacy Mahogany card brand, and more recently the Mahogany entertainment banner (under Hallmark Media) designed to tell stories that exemplify family, community, connection, positivity and the power of love, through the unique lens of Black culture.
The Crimson Hearts Collide podcast is produced in partnership with Aliza Rosen’s AYR Media and a preview can be heard here. The first two episodes will be available to stream on August 24.
