"Can't Cancel Pride" 2020: When COVID struck in 2020, Pride events around America shut down, forced to turn off the music to keep the LGBT+ community and the nation safe. However, the LGBT+ people and organizations who depend on the funds raised by Pride event sponsorships needed help more than ever. It was P&G and iHeartMedia to the rescue! In only 27 days, the companies came together with celebrities and sponsors and put on the very first "Can't Cancel Pride" event, in which more than $4.1 million was raised to support LGBT+ organizations nationwide.
2021: While 2021 is the year of vaccinations, we aren't out of the woods yet, so P&G and iHeartMedia have joined forces again for "Can't Cancel Pride: Helping LGBTQ+ People in Need," the second annual fundraising event bringing together the most influential voices in culture and entertainment to raise awareness of the issues impacting the LGBTQ+ community, including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, reminding us that nothing can cancel the heart of Pride.
A MediaVillage Exclusive
In the hours before this incredible event, MediaVillage's Kryss Shane sat down with Can't Cancel Pride's Jennifer Hageney and Gayle Troberman, who not only shared the incredible list of talent, they also spilled some secrets! Read on…
Did You Know?
- Tonight will be Jojo Siwa's first performance since coming out; Jennifer teases "she went all out in this performance!"
- Gayle nods to another first-time-ever moment in the upcoming Brothers Osborne performance, as this is not only a great musical moment, it's the first time a chart-topping country act has had an openly gay member in it… this is their first Pride event!
- This may just be the most inclusive Pride event; using a person's own technology, watching from a location of their choice, and being able to watch over and over all month long means that whether you are out and proud, out and quiet, or only out to yourself, you can come! Plus, since the event is online, you can't beat the commute or the front row seat!
- Although the 2020 event was fantastic, even more Partner companies signed on this year, even more talent jumped up to give of their talents and time, and it is looking like the best Pride event of the year!
