In the film which anchors the channelamp8217s popular Countdown to Valentineamp8217s Dayamp160movie series Smart pictured at top with Grenieramp160stars as Mary Landers a small town newspaper journalist assigned to write a piece on amp8220The Meaning of Loveamp8221 amp160But with her actual love life in shambles that proves challenging amp160That all changes after Mary shares an innocent exchange with a handsome stranger Grenier on a train and he accidentally leaves his cell phone behind She soon finds herself writing a whole new love story and rewriting her own story as the two fall in love in the most contemporary of ways amp160via a string of text messagesIt was the unconventionality of the story that hooked Smart from the start amp8220Honestly I loved the scriptamp8221 she recently told meamp160 amp8220I thought it was just such a fun story about this girl who accidentally finds herself creating this whole other story through this guy and then falls in love amp160I loved the different adventures she goes on and I loved the meaning behind itamp8220What was also interesting to me is itamp8217s not the normal way you get to know somebodyamp8221 she continued amp160amp8220There is that truth where people meet online but because my character goes so many steps further to meet all these people in his life all of whom validate what a great person he is it gives her much more impetus to fall in love because sheamp8217s hearing nice things about him from all over amp160Iamp8217m assuming if you meet someone online you start thinking amp8216who is this personamp8217 But if you talk to all of their friends first you might start to fall in love even moreamp8221As the latest addition to the evergrowing Hallmark family Smart told me her first experience with the channel couldnamp8217t have been better amp160amp8220I liked working with Hallmarkamp8221 she shared amp160amp8220This movie really does feel like it39s accessible to everyoneamp160 This is the kind of movie everyone can watch as a family amp160You don39t have to cover your kidamp8217s ears or eyes it39s something you can just sit back and enjoy take in the entertainment and meaning and emotions and just have a nice rideamp8221Although having never personally succumbed to love at first glance Smart is a believer amp160amp8220I honestly havenamp8217t done it myselfamp8221 she admitted amp160amp8220For me I feel that love kind of sneaks up on you Like you might form a friendship get to know someone and it just develops amp160I definitely think there is such thing as lust at first sight where you think amp8216Iamp8217m so attracted to this person and I feel the chemistryamp8217amp8221There is indeed chemistry between Smart and her costar Grenier despite the two sharing few actual scenes together onscreen amp160amp8220It39s quite rare in this type of storyamp8221 she said of the romantic comedy amp160amp8220We did spend a little bit of time together when we were working and we had known each other peripherally for years as we have many mutual friends amp160On location you do spend more time with the people you39re working with and that39s great because you are able to develop more chemistry and really get to know people better amp160I think spending a little bit more time together was helpful for the scenes we actually had togetheramp8221While her characteramp8217s journey of selfdiscovery sees her undergo a major adventureseeking overhaul Smart told me that while taking the occasional motorcycle ride isnamp8217t out of the realm of possibility sheamp8217d be terrified to jump out of an airplane like her character does amp8220Thatamp8217s something probably not on my radaramp8221 she laughed amp160She has good reason for that amp160Smart and her husband HGTV star Carter Oosterhouse welcomed baby Flora to the family fold this past New Year and the new mom is still getting a grip on thatamp8220I39m enjoying itamp8221 she said of motherhood amp160amp8220Iamp8217ve seen my good friends and family have babies and watched the kids grow but somehow doing it myself it feels like a whole new world amp160Flora is only six weeks old but from when she was born to now weamp8217ve seen her grow amp160It39s really fun to see the little smiles come out amp160I39m really still getting to know her as much a she is my daughter were still bonding It39s new fun different and definitely hard at times especially when she39s gassy and crying and I can39t do much amp160But I39m only six weeks in and I barely feel like I can call myself a mom because it39s so newamp8221As for Oosterhouse heamp8217s doing just fine as a dad amp160amp8220Carter is doing better than I imagined to be honestamp8221 Smart laughed amp160amp8220I thought he39d make a good dad but I had no idea how this whole parenthood thing would start to form amp160He39s been so loving and so handson and helpful amp160It really feels like we are partners in raising our daughteramp8221With the movieamp8217s Valentineamp8217s Day premiere just around the corner Smart told me itamp8217s likely she and Oosterhouse will spend a quiet night at home in front of the TV amp8220I havenamp8217t seen the finished film and Carter hasn39t seen it at allamp8221 she said amp160amp8220Iamp8217d really like to show him the film on Valentine39s Day so I think we39ll just watch my movie make some yummy food at home and hang outamp8221For the immediate future thatamp8217s exactly where Smart wants to stay although working with Hallmark again might change that amp160amp8220Thereamp8217s definitely a possibility of doing more with the networkamp8221 she saidamp160 amp8220Somebody talked to me about another project they have in the works so weamp8217ll see amp160Right now I39ve taken a few months off to really be a mom amp160I definitely want to continue working but feel a little more selective because my time feels really precious to be with my daughteramp160 Whatever would take me away has to really matter amp160Adrian and I would definitely like to work together again so that would be a good next projectamp8221amp8220Love at First
