amp8220One of the Murder She Baked movies did have a Christmas element to it as it happened at Christmasamp8221 she continued amp160amp8220But I feel that wasnamp8217t really a Christmas movie so I was thrilled at the chance to do it again amp160My husband always asks how I find the time but weamp8217d wrapped Chronicle Mysteries for the year so when they approached me the timing was perfect amp160I loved the story because it was so inspiring and beautiful and I was thrilled at the opportunity to be included amp160On top of that I loved filming itamp8221Time for You to Come Home for Christmas is a followup to last yearamp8217s Time for Me to Come Home for Christmasamp160but with different charactersamp160again executive produced by Blake Shelton alongside his mother Dorothy Shackleford and based on his song and her book of the same name written with Travis Thrasher amp160Sweeney plays Katherine a single widowed mom venturing to her Virginia hometown for the holidays amp160Along the way she encounters friendly stranger Jack Lucas Bryant pictured above and below with Sweeneyamp160on a train journeying to perform at the townamp8217s annual Christmas dance to benefit military families amp160As the two repeatedly encounter one another a close friendship develops and as Jack endeavors to solve a mystery about a coin from his past the results lead to new beginnings for both of themamp8220This one is a different story to the one last year yet in the same spirit as the first oneamp8221 explained Sweeney amp160amp8220There are some Easter eggs for people who loved the first one so the two are connected but itamp8217s a different group of people and a completely different story amp160Itamp8217s not a sequel and to be honest sequels can be a struggle amp160I believe itamp8217s great that they decided to honor the spirit tradition heart and love of the first one and tell it in a completely different wayamp8220It also absolutely has a lovely mystery element to itamp8221 she added amp8220It was fun for me reading the script as I didnamp8217t know how the story would end or how it was all connected Jack has this coin and heamp8217s trying to figure out who it belongs to and he doesnamp8217t mention it to my character so I was reading all of his scenes asking myself amp8216What is this coin amp160Who owns it amp160How is it connected to himamp8217 amp160When it all comes together itamp8217s an emotional lovely story pointamp8221Thanks to Murder She Baked and her continuing Chronicle Mysteries series Sweeneyamp8217s name has become synonymous with the Hallmark Movies ampamp Mysteries brand so having a mystery throughthread felt organic to her amp160Portraying a protective grieving single mother only enhanced the experience amp160amp8220Obviously playing Sami Brady for so many years on Days of Our Lives thereamp8217s no stone unturned when it comes to characters and what they will and wonamp8217t doamp8221 she laughed amp160amp8220But with every script you pick up itamp8217s finding the right character and balance amp160A role like Katherine where my character has a son who is 10 is something I can identify with from my own lifeamp160 In Hallmark movies especially you can pull into characters because they are relatableamp8220I wanted Kat to be a person that audiences could identify withamp8221 she continued amp160amp8220I think moms everywhere know that feeling of trying to protect their kids from deeper emotions and not wanting to see them feeling hurt amp160A lot of those instincts come naturally to moms and parentsamp160 Reading the script these were all things I identified with about my own lifeamp8221Sweeney told me that after signing on late to the project she wasnamp8217t involved in the production of the film so encountering Shelton didnamp8217t happenamp160 amp8220But Iamp8217ve met Blake many times at different NBC eventsamp8221 she said amp160She also revealed the film has a musical element one from which she was amp8220thankfullyamp8221 given a reprieve amp160amp8220Lucas is so talentedamp8221 she shared amp8220Heamp8217s a great actor and he plays guitar and sings so it was wonderful to see him pull out all the stops amp160Iamp8217ve had my moment in the sun regarding singing so these days I let the professionals stand up and do their thingamp8221With the holidays set to be super busy for the Sweeney clan including a mountain ski trip followed by some beach time she told me the Chronicle Mysteries team is hard at work coming up with new ideas for next year amp160She also has her sights set on another Christmas project along with she hopes some onscreen romanceamp8220I have some story ideas in the romantic comedy veinamp8221 she revealed in closing amp160amp8220I miss doing them and while the mysteries are super fun and I love them I do miss the romanceamp160 Itamp8217s something I donamp8217t want to let slip awayamp8221Time for You to Come Home for Christmas will be telecast Sunday December 8 at 9 pm on Hallmark Movies ampamp Mysteries as part of its annual Miracles of Christmas programming event
