Video Journalist Turns to Web for Funding
Mark Shea from Overlander.tv SoundsOff
For many years I have been a firm believer in the internet as a distribution method for filmmakers.

We have recently seen the growth of user generated content and there are now numerable sites where one can display there work.

But as yet, the monetisation of video blogging is still in it’s infancy. Most vloggers do it as an aside to their day jobs.

A couple of events have happened recently that made me realize the power of online communities (eg. Nalt’s getting signed up with the youtube partner program due to youtube community action)

Taking my lead from discussions on vlogging groups, I wish to test a funding option, that isn’t purely commercial.

I want to see if the 100’s of viewers who learn about different locations via my videos, are willing to help support my filmmaking endeavours.

I am using Fundable to help realize this goal

If my target of $2,000 is met, I will have the time and resources to devote myself to editing four new videos. They will be:

  1. A photographic journey with a Belfast Photographer displaying the changes that are occurring in Northern Ireland.
  2. A look into the life of legendary Australian Green’s Senator, Bob Brown, and why he chose to live in Tasmania, the location of the World’s first Greens Political Party.
  3. An interview with a Video Artist in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
  4. A story on the Cave Dwellers of Sacre Monte, Granada, Spain
Anyone who pledges support, will (if they wish) have their details listed on our Sponsors page. One can also nominate which video they wish to support.

I have set the minimum pledge amount quite low, if you can afford to donate more, please feel free to do so.

If my total pledge amount ($2,000) is not met within the time frame (25 days) No money will be withdrawn from your account.

When I set off overseas last year, filming in Ireland, Spain and Vietnam, it was the hospitality of strangers, that lead to me finding great stories. In the same way, I’m hoping that those who enjoy viewing my videos, can help keep this project going by pledging their support.

The Riches on FX

Sherri Driggers SoundsOff - The Riches:
What happened to The Riches? Why hasn't the show been on the last two weeks. Did FX cancel the show? The Riches was one of my favorite shows, I just want to see it again!

MediaVillage Response: The Riches has finished out its first season. Fortunately, FX has picked up the show for a second season. It will return sometime next year, although an exact season premiere date has not yet been set.

The Nine

Kaydee Mellon SoundsOff - The Nine:
Was there a fall Finale of The Nine? All I saw were the seven episodes. I really want to know what happens with these people. This show really got my interest, then disappeared! Why does ABC do that????

MediaVillage Response: There was no fall finale of The Nine. ABC pulled the plug on the show, and so far has not announced any plans to release a DVD or air the remaining episodes online.

Let's hope ABC won't do that with the new shows next season!

Andre Schklowsky SoundsOff - Save The Nine:
What happened to The Nine, one of the few intelligent and sensitive shows on TV? Please bring it back.

Alison Laming SoundsOff - I Love The None:
I Love The Nine! It's intelligent, well written, well acted. The timing of disclosure about what happened in there is excellent. Each week, until it was put on hiatus, I would look forward with relish to watching The Nine and then shell out money to download it so I could watch it again and again. I don't watch very much television but The Nine is worth spending the time and money to watch.

Tanya Granger SoundsOff - Please Save The Nine:
I could sit here and type: Please, ABC, save The Nine! But really, why should you? Well, here are some reasons why, [I hope you take the time to read each and every one]:

  1. Your viewing audience is not made up solely of 18-34 year olds. There are MANY of us in the 'next age range'; please remember that we're the ones who helped make you the #1 network 'back in the day' when we were in that precious 18-34 age range. As a matter of fact, I'd say we're still helping you
  2. Since many of us regularly view other shows in your primetime lineup. In short - We still watch TV! We stillhave lots of disposable income that your advertisers would love for
  3. Us to spend on their products! And we like storylines and plots that make us think as well as those that are 'solely entertaining'. The Nine makes us think; we get to watch talented actors and are entertained without gimmicks (see Lost for plot gimmicks).
  4. The Network has supported other shows and worked with them to bring them back, I'm thinking of Boston Legal… it was taken off the air for some time and brought back in a, shall we say 'altered format'. It really did not have the same 'soul' or 'vibe' as it had originally [in my opinion] but you gave it another chance and the producers worked some magic so that it could live. As has been said by others, perhaps all T9 needs is an ever-so-slightly different way of presenting 'the Bank scenes' along with the stories of the characters, so as to keep the attention of 'the masses' whom you and your advertisers seem so desperate to reach.
  5. And on that subject: while your advertisers may think that 'quantity' is all that matters when it comes to viewers; I challenge them and you, ABC, to think about the QUALITY of audience The Nine brings. Perhaps your Media Buyers could look to advertisers with products geared more toward the demographic that views The Nine. With this in mind, perhaps Credit Card companies, Investment Firms, Banks, (there's an idea… since the drama takes place in one); perhaps this kind of advertiser would more appreciate 4 to 8 million quality viewers, rather than Fast Food or Cell Phone companies (I'm just using them as examples) who typically want to reach the large, 'teeny-bopper' audience.
  6. Many fans (me included) tuned-in to see one actor in particular (I won't say who, so as not to slight any of this great cast), yet we [viewers] have become attached to EVERY character in the show. Others have said it: it is a *gripping* show – the writing is superb, as is the direction. Those of us who were initially watching one or two actors/characters have been led to care about everyone who was 'in there', including the sibling bank robbers. We want to see their stories played out.

In closing, Mr. McPherson & staff, I want to take you down memory lane (or, if you're too young to remember, I want you to know this): almost 30 years ago, ABC had a groundbreaking show about a 'ragtag, fugitive fleet' led by a Battlestar on a quest for a 'planet known as Earth'. ABC claimed the ratings dropped and did not renew it for a second season; however, we did get a FULL season of that show. The viewing public made such a stink about it being cancelled, and boycotted advertisers along the way, that the Network brass at that time admitted they'd made a mistake and brought the show back a couple seasons later – 'revamped', of course. But it just wasn't the same as the original. I'm sure you know which show I'm referring to. Please don't make the same mistake with The Nine.

Penny Lee SoundsOff - Save The Nine:
I love The Nine. It had great stories, great characters, a fantastic cast. It might have been paced too slowly to attract a huge audience, but that's something that the producers can remedy with editing.

I hope ABC brings it back for at least the six remaining episodes. And if they're gonna can it, I want just ONE more episode of all bank scenes.

There's a petition up to save the show. Please sign and leave comments! Psst. Pass it along. www.petitiononline.com/savethe9.html

Bill Rosen SoundsOff - The Nine:
The Nine is my favorite new broadcast channel show of the year! Gripping is an understatement when talking about The Nine, and to compare The Nine with Lost is really ridiculous! I love Lost as well, but they are like apples and oranges, both fruit but they don't taste at all alike! I agree that so far this story has giant legs, is not boring, or dragged out, and is totally character driven. Long live The Nine, and may others discover what they are missing!
What Do You Think?

Joan Tischler SoundsOff - Now I Gotta Watch The Nine:
I had absolutely no interest in watching The Nine until I read this review. Now I too want to know who will be the first to die!!!!
What Do You Think?

Tim SoundsOff - The Sopranos:
Awesome! A classic ending to a classic series. The unresolved ending lets everyone provide their own ending - depending on their point of view. And the bit about the cable going out at the end was wonderfully ironic since HBO has become the most successful cable network in large part due to the success of The Sopranos.

Emily SoundsOff - The Sopranos:
The growing anticipation and analysis of how the series was going to end was thwarted last night with one of the most boring and disappointing series endings ever! Chase built up this huge New York vs. New Jersey mob conflict to have it concluded with a quick resolution and murder of Phil. How boring! When it got to be 9:50pm, I was sitting there wondering how he was going to add some action to the last episode that so far had been quite uneventful. He once again let me down with an ending that left me panicked, as I thought something had gone terribly wrong with my cable. I felt the episode previous to the ending was fantastic, full of images and musical content that could have been used in the ending. Instead, Chase decided to drag us along for one more episode in which nothing too important was accomplished. Is that it?!

Victoria SoundsOff - The Sopranos:
To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. After years of being a loyal fan, I felt ripped off and kept thinking, Is this all there is? It has to get better, but it did not. I was stunned! Where was the action, closure and hey, let us not forget to mention, no music and the end. I feel David Chase did his fans a grave disservice by handling the last show. I won't even care enough to remember this, not like I remember, (with great fondness), the final episode of M*A*S*H. Now that was a last show to remember. With all the hype and build up, I thought for sure Chase would leave a show to remember. Well, again, I was wrong. I am now sorry I spent so many hours watching The Sopranos, but I will watch the two hour special that comes out in a few years, possible title, "The Real Finale".

David SoundsOff - The Sopranos:
"The Last Episode of The Sopranos" to me was all hype and no follow-through. I loved this series and watched religiously until the last two 'half' seasons when I was increasingly bored and disappointed, but watched because of my personal investment in the series. While a couple of the recent shows had the personality and excitement of earlier seasons, this season disappointed this regular viewer. Last nights' finale was a big 'you gotta be kidding me!' Compared to the ends of MASH and Cheers this was a dud.

We all knew that the door would be left open so that, after a couple of years of building pressure, David Chase would be persuaded to do a two hour special on HBO. If so that should be called "The Real Final Episode of The Sopranos"

What hype, what a let down!

Rebecca SoundsOff - The Sopranos:
Every great love affair needs an ending. Or does it? There is something most luscious set deep in the heart of wanting. Looking back at the farewells of most high rated series, those which specifically ended on very definable terms, I cannot truly remember how they ended. Either I was young, or they were too la de da to take up valuable space in my brain. The Sopranos ending, however, (like that blond-haired boy in London, who loved me and left me), can RENT space, though it's gonna cost them five grand a month! I am not sure if I will remember the ending or the let down surrounding the ending, what I do know, and wholeheartedly believe, is that Tony Cannoli-breath should have gotten his brains blown out. Thus making a moral stand against gangsters. "Those who live by the gun die by the gun". In this case, however, "Those who live by long running television series . . . . . . . . .

Karen Jo D. SoundsOff - Criminal Minds
I just finished watching the season finale of Criminal Minds, what a GREAT ending, however if in the next season the show loses the Thomas P Gibson's character I will quit watching the show, Paget Brewster's character can go anytime, but not Hotch. I have broken dates, left meetings, and changed shifts at work to get home in time to see this show. I own two copies of the first season, (one opened and one unopened). I live for each episode of this show, and yes I do have a life. The character development is fascinating and I enjoy the complex plots and twists to each case. Please do not change the main characters, except maybe Paget Brewster's character, she can go anytime. Thank you!

Angela P. SoundsOff - Cancellation of Jericho
At this time I would love to express how let down I am over the cancellation of the CBS drama Jericho. It was one of the best, thought provoking shows on TV today and it was taken away. There are millions of disappointed viewers all over the world that want this show back. If CBS won't do…sell it to someone who will!

John F. SoundsOff - Cancellation of Jericho
What is up with CBS canceling Jericho and then blaming the viewers (the ratings). Please help save Jericho. There is now an online effort to save this show at www.jerichorallypoint.com as well as an online petition that has received nearly 40,000 signatures in 36hours.

The organizers, in a twist of humor, are sending bags of nuts to CBS executives. The nuts are a reference to a scene in the season finale (now the series finale) where a WWII vet describes his response to a German demand for surrender at Bastogne. I'd hate to be the mail guy at CBS.

Any help this community could give is appreciated.

Timothy L. SoundsOff - Cancellation of Jericho
This past week, the exceptional television drama Jericho was cancelled. Not only was this a brilliant television series, different from all of the crime dramas CBS airs, but it was cancelled with a "cliffhanger" ending. While the cancellation after only one season was enough to infuriate millions of loyal fans, not giving the show proper closure only added fuel to the fire.

As a college graduate and a high school teacher, I do not respect that the CBS network cancelled a show that actually allowed viewers to think, make predictions, interpret characters' actions and dialogue, and actually hold discussions about episodes, as opposed to these reality shows that CBS continues to air.

Matt D. SoundsOff - Cancellation of Jericho
I think CBS has made a major mistake. They pulled the plug on Jericho, which is one of the greatest shows they've had on in some time. Their other shows are all showing their age, and Jericho was by far and away better than most of their shows have ever been. Now, they cancel Jericho, yet promise lame new reality shows to air in its place. There is a large push from the loyal fans of Jericho to either bring the show back on CBS, or get it picked up by another network. There is an obvious following to this show, and it would be a great thing for any other network out there to pick it up. This show is great, and with the right network behind it, this greatness can continue for a very long time!

Debra Lewis SoundsOff: The Unit
I was not as happy with the direction of the episode of The Unit that aired last night. Now I realize that you have probably finished production for this year, and can't change what you have already put in the can. However, I do not approve of the character of Bob insinuating himself into the CIA; and I certainly don't approve of the character of Mack going to kill his wife and lawyer boss for an affair they didn't have. I was so proud of you for ending the affair she was having, and truly hoped you had dropped the subject there. Please. You have a wonderful, dynamic, action-packed show that doesn't need immorality to carry it in the ratings. It would be so much the better example for so many young people to see people working under very difficult circumstances to be strong marriages, that the husband and wife can count on each other at least as well and thoroughly as the men depend upon each other in the field. You have good writers, and your stories are strong…please don't muck them up with melodrama immorality. And review all the characters speech patterns. Anyone who speaks as many languages as these people do, wouldn't be eliminating adverbs from their speech. They are all far too well educated and trained to do so. Some of your characters aren't going to speak correct grammar, syntax…but there are some to whom it is highly noticeable when they don't use their own language correctly.

Jim Harben SoundsOff: American Idol: Idol Gives Back
After watching five minutes of my favorite program, I turned American Idol off. Last nights fund raiser diminished the program. People watch American Idol to escape and have fun. Last night was pitiful and unnecessary. Farm Aid, We are the World, etc collected millions for their cause and the problem is still there. Millions have been spent on New Orleans and crime, poverty, welfare still abounds there and the dollars donated last night for New Orleans will not make a difference at all.

Lex Hamer SoundsOff: Smallville
1. Can anyone name the episodes (in order preferably) Lana appears with Clark (Smallville) in the Kent's Barn? I seek screen caps of these meetings (well lit scenes, i.e. just before or by sunset). 2. Can anyone name the episodes (in order preferably) Lana appears with Lex (Smallville) at Lex's home? I seek screen caps of these meetings (well lit scenes, i.e. just before or by sunset, or whenever the fireplace is in use). I am searching, believe me - but I feel a true expert on Smallville could crack this with their eyes shut. Within all the seasons - 1 thru 6. Who will take up the challenge?

In response to Ed Martin's request at the end of his March 22 column that MediaVillage reader CY send more information about how Clark and Lana ultimately end up together in the Superman comic book series, CY replied:

Hi, Ed. When I worked at Media Play, I picked up a copy of a Superman/Batman comic book and at the end it showed that Superman ends up with Lana. Even Batman approved. Go to www.lana-clark.net, then go to their comics page and under "Superman Comics" you will find the comic strip at around the 44th strip going down. There's also a comic strip where Superman stops Lana from marrying Lex! It's amazing to know that the writers of Smallville actually do read the comics! Al [Gough] and Miles [Millar] have said that Smallville has always been planned to have a love triangle between the three main characters: Clark, Lana and Lex. They just had to wait until Lana was older. I'm very glad that you are so supportive of the love between Clark and Lana. He needs to have "young love" in order to really appreciate his human emotions. And you are very correct in saying that the two actors (Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk) have chemistry. You can see it in their eyes. On another note, some people keep saying that it is pointless to have Lana on the show. No it isn't. Since Clark is in love with her, it's not pointless. Lois is completely pointless because we already have a headstrong, super-sleuthing gal in Chloe! I just want to re-iterate that I appreciated both of your recent Smallville columns. There are a lot of Clark and Lana fans out there to be sure! I'm such a big fan that I named my daughter Lana! Thanks again!

Kimberly SoundsOff - Smallville:
I 100% agree with this review. The whole reason a lot of people continue to watch Smallville is because of Lana and Clark. I know several people that stopped watching after Lana and Clark broke up! I am a Clana fan all the way and Kristin and Tom have the best chemistry I've seen on TV in years!

Imzadia13 SoundsOff - Smallville:
This is in response to Ed's SMALLVILLE Commentary and to "Priximity Burn", "Gabrielle", and "ClarkFan" in particular, because they voiced the way I feel, as well. I certainly AGREE with your SOUNDOFF responses, wholeheartedly, EXCEPT that I'm NOT willing to abandon this series. I still love it for many reasons, but None of them include Clana. Therefore, I'm hoping and looking forward to a Seventh Season of SMALLVILLE.

L T SoundsOff - Smallville:
Smallville "Promise" Review
Ed,
I had enjoyed your previous reviews of Oliver Queen & Lois Lane-centered episodes and gave your line or two praise to "Clana" chemistry a pass. This one? Yuck. See here's the thing. I think Lana's become a great character this season, mainly because being with Lex led to her actually developing her own character. Clark, being separated from her, was actually starting to do the same. When they thrust them back together for "dramaaaa", the progress the first half of the season made not only came to a screeching halt, but threw it in reverse.

Clark & Lana had their relationship and break up LAST YEAR. Let it freaking die. Everyone and their mother are sick of it. The few who aren't, claim it's reason for being as "aw but it's so cute, it just is, they just belong together." Um, no they don't actually. This isn't based on a late '90s WB tween soap, it's based on the story of Superman. Superman grows up to learn to be selfless and help people, not to throw weekly pity parties for a table of 1. Face it, when Lois isn't in the episode to call Clark on his crap, the show de-volves into an angst-filled bore. Every once in a while do despair and dramatic episodes make sense? Sure! But not ad-nauseum. This'll be the 3rd in a row and 4th out of 5 that has made me want to poke my eyes out with a plastic spork.

For the love of God, quit encouraging the creators to focus on this crap. Gimme the show where the focus is Clark having to accept his destiny and making progress, exploring hero issues, building positive relationships. Not re-treading 6 year-old tweenage womance because you can't think of anything else but filler between key plot points. 2002 called "Clana", they want you back…and we want you gone.

Clark and Chloe SoundsOff - Smallville:
Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see the episode last night but I will catch up this weekend [that the tech gods for DVR]. I have to differ with Ed regarding keeping Clark and Lana apart or rather getting them to finally have a long lasting relationship [that doesn't really work for them see earlier seasons]. Even though they drift away from the Original Superman series there are still some things that they have to keep on track with. Like for instance did you realize that in Superman 3 Lana has a son from a previous marriage [let's see Lana's married and pregnant???] Who's to say that the baby will not make it [personally I don't think so] but either way it stays close to the premise of the original story line. They have given us a taste of them being together and I believe that is all we are going to get. [sorry CLana fans]. I mean look at my name I am a big fan of the Clark and Chloe "never gonna happen" relationship BUT I ALSO KNOW that Clark ends up with Lois [haven't you been paying attention?] The Lex and Lana thing is something for him [Clark] to work through and get over. Trust and believe it will happen! By series end everyone will be where they are supposed to be Lana will be with a child without Lex or Clark. Chloe will be married but NOT to Jimmy. Clark will finally take a job at the Daily Planet [only after Lois has stop writing for the Inquisitor] and this is when they [Clark and Lois] will begin to realize the chemistry between them [check Clarks expression from the "Hydro" episode when Lois plants one on him]. I see us going at least 7 to 8 seasons so hold tight Smallville fans it will get better!

Carla G SoundsOff - Smallville:
Thanks Ed! You said it best when you wrote: "Clark and Lana that will once again make clear that they are the sexiest, deepest and most romantic couple on television.."

I agree with you wholeheartedly! Clark and Lana's relationship is part of the reason this show has lasted for so long! Besides Clark's training to becoming Superman, his relationship with Lana Lang is truly one to watch and look forward to!

Thank you for your honest review! I'm glad I'm not the only who sees the chemistry between Kristin Kreuk and Tom Welling. They truly bring to life their characters especially together!

Don't listen to all this hateful comments. They're just bitter because you didn't mention Chloe.

But thanks Ed! I always look forward to reading your reviews! Until Next time!

Athena Jones SoundsOff - Smallville:
Well, that was the most blatantly Clana biased crap that I have ever read. Not only that, but it just proves that Clana lovers in the media don't actually watch the show except when they have to. Clark and Lana have in fact been together and both physically and romantically.

Kudos on hating the "unbaby" from hell storyline though, LOL. Clana is the worst thing that has happened to Smallville and what they've done to the baby storyline - probably to further the Clana - is a close second.

Nathan A SoundsOff - Smallville:
Why would it be so bad if Lex is not as in love with Lana as he portrays. In my mind, it is perfect for the character. First of all, it shows how convincing he is, even to those who know him best. Second, it reveals an even deeper and darker layer of evil hidden within Lex Luthor. No, he's not just a bad guy now, the typical villain who is so obviously self-indulgent that only the blind can doubt his agenda. He is becoming the worst kind of villain: one who lures unsuspecting victims into his web by appearing to be one thing while in actuality being another.

In the rush to believe that some good lies in everyone, don't forget what this man will become later in the story arch. There's a good reason that Luthor is the greatest of all of Superman's foes, and it's not because he is weak. He knows what he's doing, and he stands head and shoulders above everyone except for Clark Kent. That is the definition of a super-villain.

Elizabeth SoundsOff - Smallville:
Ok, it's really obvious that you have not watched a single episode of Smallville besides S6. Seriously get ya facts straight. This review did absolutely nothing but make me want to miss this episode even more. Thanks for the reassurance that I won't be missing a damn thing.

This show is seriously insulting to the character of Clark Kent. He is going after a pregnant tramp on her wedding day. Give me a freaking break and to have Chloe encourage it. I love Chloe and right now I wanna slap her. TPTB are seriously screwing up .

Proximity Burn SoundsOff - Smallville:
The episode that will forever change Smallville is the one where Clark finally gets over that usually vortex of suck known as Lana and starts being an active participant in his destiny.

Clana is DONE. OVER. They are never going to be a couple again so stop even mentioning it.

Lily SoundsOff - Smallville:
"It isn't giving anything away to reveal that this exchange with Chloe leads to scenes with Clark and Lana that will once again make clear that they are the sexiest, deepest and most romantic couple on television -- even though they have never actually been together"

Kathy M SoundsOff - Smallville:
Actually Clark and Lana have been together. Remember the first few episodes of Season 5?

Daniel Peterson SoundsOff - Smallville:
This feedback is directed straight to Ed Martin's *review* of Smallville's "Promise" episode. Normally I don't harp about *critics* because frankly they don't speak for everyone so their opinion is just that.

But Ed's review was complete nonsense. I've heard five yr olds give more insightful and interesting discussions on topics. Better than Ed on this review for Promise.

Your dare to compare Clark Kent & Lana Lang. To soap opera couples, when you stated. That they've never been together on the show. Let me shed some light on this relationship. Last season they were together for most of the season, which wasn't a healthy relationship at all.

They only slept together, after dating a few months. Even though they were still teenagers. That basically tells the new generation: If you've got a boyfriend/girlfriend go have sex. Then after that once Clark got his powers back Lana did nothing but bug Clark for sex. Oh yeah they're star cross lovers alright.

In case you couldn't tell that was sarcasm. And it also seems that you've forgotten one important fact: They don't end up together! Lois Lane becomes Clark's future wife. She is Clark's destiny his 'star crossed lover'

Ed basically wasted 90% of the review gushing about how *great* Lana and Clark are together, mentioned about the baby (which we already know) And Lex being a great villain.

He didn't say anything about the acting. Nothing about the scenes, the camera work or the direction of the episode.

Gabrielle SoundsOff - Smallville:
I think you always do a good job with your reviews, but I have to say I can't honestly see this great love between Clark and Lana you mention. This relationship has been so badly written during the past 6 years, that it has become one of the most boring and annoying relationships I've ever seen. I despise what it does/doing to Clark, and how everything in Clark's world right now revolves around a high school crush.

I'm also annoyed by the fact that Chloe is encouraging Clark, our future Superman who's supposed to have strong values to put a stop to a wedding, and what's worse confess his feelings for a girl who's about to get married, and oh yeah, is pregnant with another man's child.

I wish I could be happy or excited about this episode, but I can't. It doesn't sound good AT ALL.

Sonja B SoundsOff - Smallville:
What the frak?

Was that passage about the Kreuk/Welling chemistry and the way they work their "magic" ironic or am I misinterpreting? Please tell me it's the former.

Well, it's probably your job to praise even the most ridiculous episodes - so thanks anyway for the review.

Jack Ross SoundsOff - Smallville:
I use to be a big fan of Smallville, but am growing tired of the same old, same old.

No wonder why CityTV.com dumped them.

Lana and Clark need to get together and Clark need to wear the cape and fly around a bit more.

Sad for Superman SoundsOff - Smallville:
Smallville:
I frankly wonder how much Goughlar paid you to write this claptrap considering you got several facts wrong. Clark and Lana actually did get together in early S5 and actually had sex. June and Ward Cleaver are hotter and sexier than Clark and Lana and a lot less dysfunctional. Am I supposed to root for this relationship?

I am ashamed that Chloe and Martha are both being mean to Clark and trying to pimp a girl who I'd have to get eyes on the back of my head to make sure she didn't stab me in the back. This is a girl so fragile/selfish she took krypto crack to soothe her pain and nearly got a couple of her pals killed.

Shameful, shameful, shameful.

Smallville

Randy SoundsOff - Smallville:
Ed,
Thank you for your take on Smallville's "Promise". I'm glade to read that I'm not in the minority when I say that the relationship between Clark and Lana has been a focal point for SV since day one. Keep up the great work!!

ClarkFan SoundsOff - Smallville:
The number of things wrong with "Promise" and this review just staggers the mind. This is the story of Clark Kent (the Man of Steel) and Lex Luthor (evil mastermind) not some random soap opera characters.

Some facts. Lana Lang chose to go to Lex when Clark dumped her. (In fact, she was going behind Clark's back when they were dating to meet with Lex knowing Clark wouldn't like it.)

Lana chose to start a relationship with Lex. She chose to move into the mansion. She chose to sleep with Lex. She was not coerced to say she loved Lex or that she wanted to marry him and have his child. She categorically refused to hear anything negative about Lex from Chloe and Clark. Instead she chose to "be nobody's prey" and jump into a relationship with Lex. She is now carrying Lex's child (as far as she and the other characters know). She made her bed and it's time for her to lie in it and grow the heck up!

It is really pathetic that six years into Smallville, Lana Lang is still allowed to play the poor damsel-in-distress pretty pink princess that needs saving (from herself mostly!). Maybe if Clark, Lex, and Chloe stopped coming to her rescue, she'd learn something about taking responsibility for her actions!

To keep Lana Lang pure, TPTB have Clark Kent crash a wedding where the bride not only willing consented to the wedding but spent her fiancé's money for a wedding dress, trips to Paris, an engagement party, a lavish wedding/reception and is also living with and pregnant by the groom. This is the future Superman?! He's lost his common decency and morals. That is certainly not what living with the Kent's has taught him. How is he supposed to one day fight for truth and justice when apparently doesn't know right from wrong?

To keep Lana Lang on her pedestal, Martha is retconned from telling Clark that "maybe Lana is not the one" and "stay away from Lana" to encouraging him to crash the wedding to save Lana - who agreed to marry Lex and is pregnant with Lex's child.

To keep Lana Lang blameless and beautiful, Chloe goes from telling Clark that he should go to the wedding to send a message to Lana, Lex and especially himself that he is moving on (in "Freak") to making his feel guilty that he hasn't swooped in to save Lana Lang by telling her (Lana) his secret! Wtf?

How does telling Lana Clark's secret help convince her to leave Lex? In "Reckoning" Clark didn't tell her because that would put her in danger since she was close to Lex. Now that she's going to become Mrs. Lex Luthor and is carrying his child, it is no longer dangerous? It makes no sense and creates arbitrary drama.

Lex Luthor is the smartest, most cunning, evil mastermind. In Smallville, Lex regularly gets kidnapped/shot/double crossed/knocked out. He has the most inept minions/security. His evil schemes are so transparent and stupid that even this Clark is able to foil them. Clark and Lex's scenes have been reduced to two 15 year olds fighting over a worthless twit.

If the reviewer had been watching Smallville regularly like the fans, he would be aware of all these inconsistencies and the deliberate sabotage of the characters of Clark, Lex, Chloe, Lionel, and Martha to justify Lana Lang's existence on Smallville.

The characters graduated high school 2 years ago and Clark lost his father to bring Lana back from the dead. Right now, Clark has Zoners to track, Level 33.1 to expose and his training with Jor-El to do. He should have left his childish high school crush behind, come to terms with being super-powered, and moved toward becoming the man Jonathan Kent believed his son to be. Instead he hides out in his barn moping about Lana. Six years!

As for the chemistry between Kristin Kreuk/Lana and Tom Welling/Clark? I've never seen it.

"Clark and Lana that will once again make clear that they are the sexiest, deepest and most romantic couple on television -- even though they have never actually been together."

The sexiest, deepest and most romantic couple? Come on! They're not even friends. They don't even know each other! It's all physical attraction, nothing deeper. The brief time they were together (and it worked) was when Clark lost his powers and was mortal/normal. Once Clark got his powers back, they spent their time together hiding things from one another, lying to one another and sneaking around (Lana going to see Lex). Their relationship inevitably self-destructed.

"If I have a complaint about Smallville this season it is with the baby story, which threatens to devolve Lana into the ultimate victim and undercuts the many fine scenes in which Lex has declared his love for the mother of his child. The apparent depth of his love for Lana has made Lex a more interesting villain than ever before, and the idea that it is all an act of some kind -- which it will have to be if the baby story continues to go where it seems to be going -- is potentially character-destroying. The writers are crushing themselves into an increasingly small box. They are headed toward a story reveal that nobody wants to see, including the most ardent Smallville fans."

I completely agree with this. The writers are destroying the character of Lex Luthor to make Lana Lang blameless and pure.

Al Gough and Miles Millar have systematically tainted the Superman mythology at the altar of Lana Lang. Clark is a passive, whiney, moping, obsessive idiot who at this rate will never become the Man Of Steel. Instead of gradual character growth, they (AlMiles) are happy with lightswitches, retcons and character assassination to move the plot in whatever direction they feel like in any given week. "Promise" spoilers and this review have taught me a very important lesson. It's time to move on to "Heroes" and "Ugly Betty".

Mardy A SoundsOff - Smallville:
I applaud you, Mr. Martin. That is truly a superb review. Unlike most recent ones displaying such negativity towards Kristin Kreuk and her Lana Lang character--yours was a welcoming read. And yes, the chemistry these two fine actors have together is beyond words. They exude pure love and desire in their expressions. I only wish I could be watching this episode.

James SoundsOff - Smallville:
No offense, man, but you're watching a totally different show. Clark and Lana have been going on and on with their relationship for the past 6 years. The longing is very annoying at this point. Every SV fan is sick of it.

Denise Schwartz SoundsOff - Smallville:
I have to completely disagree with you, Ed. Clark and Lana are FAR from the most romantic couple on television, AND I will even venture to say that as this show grinds into a seventh season, it's getting worse and worse. Clark and Lana were great for the high school part of the show. It should have been given its time there and that's it. The fact that the Superman myth is being reduced to a soap opera is insulting to the many fans of Supes that have hung in with this show since day one to see how he would become the hero we all know.

My advice to you, Ed, is to pick up a Superman comic and read it. Maybe watch an episode or two of Justice League Unlimited. Get some perspective on what Superman and Lex Luthor are supposed to be about. Once you do, you'll see crap like tonight's "Promise" only serves to drag down two of comic historys most iconic figures. And, your 'rah-rah' review just adds fuel to the fire. Shame on you.

Ace G SoundsOff - Smallville:
I just want to give an applaud to Ed Martin and this review of the upcoming episode of Smallville. I am a big fan, and that review really weighed heavily on what I have been feeling this whole season. And that part where you praise Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk's chemistry, it was very melodic and heart-wrenching that I seriously don't understand why the writers have been keeping them apart for so long. Again, thank-you Ed for writing a review that literally brings me into great anticipation for the episode.

SVF SoundsOff - Smallville:
Actually, Lana first used that iconic nickname before "Clark Kent, Man of Steel" in Season Two. And Clark and Lana were actually together in early Season five. Also, Clark should seriously stop listening to Chloe all together; she gets more insufferable and nonsensical with every passing episode-- yeah, sure go ahead and tell your alien secret to your nemesis' wife. Not risky in the least.

DC SoundsOff - Smallville:
ED,
What is your belief on what is happening with the baby story line that is so awful???

Liv SoundsOff - Smallville:
Oh Ed. Your recent review of the much detested Promise had me in peals of laughter. There's no use pretending this is even a sci-fi genre show at all. It really is all about the Days Of Lanaville as you so aptly noted when you compared their relationship to Soap-Opera Couples. SV next on the Daytime Emmy Awards I presume? Mwahaaa!

I see you have subscribed whole-heartedly to the long held theory by fans that the storylines so long revolving over the insipid Ms Lang are nothing more than rehashed soap-opera storylines. Fans have been saying that for years. Glad to see you're on board.

Once this show had Superman and Lex Luthor, now it it's "The Lana Show". Thank you for confirming it.

Jeremy SoundsOff - Smallville:
I find little in Ed's review to commend either the review or the episode in question, "Promise." Apparently Ed's memory has failed because Clark and Lana have assumed a romantic relationship on no less than two separate occasions, much to the detriment of the show.

While I certainly respect Ed's opinion on the chemistry between Clark and Lana, an opinion that I do not share, the fact is what little drama and appeal there was to the relationship to begin with was long bled out over the six seasons of their vacilating romance.

The end result of six seasons of this nonsense is that both characters look silly and shallow and the fans utterly exhausted from the attempts to wring just one more dramatic scene from a pairing that never really had much appeal to start.

Andrew SoundsOff - Smallville:
Thank you for your review, Ed. You've added even more anticipation to an already highly-anticipated episode for me. And I agree, Tom and Kristin really do have great chemistry!

Maggie SoundsOff - Smallville:
This is the stupidest thing I've ever read. Obviously this guy has never really watched Smallville or he'd know that Lana and Clark DID get together at the beginning of season five and proved what people have been saying for years: Kristen Kreuk and Tom Welling have no chemistry at all and within the context of the series, it made no sense whatsoever. It was the biggest mistake Smallville ever made and we don't need more of it.

Lana has been the self-centered, manipulative, me, me, me girl for six and a half years. She constantly berates Clark for keeping secrets, makes the most cruel and cutting remarks to him (and others) when she doesn't get her way and most recently we watched her snoop into his past by lying her way into the Kent farm and his bedroom to root through his belongings for evidence of whatever she wants to find and we see photos of her sneaking around in the Kent barn looking for more.

Lana is obviously a borderline psycho who cannot be trusted and both Clark and Chloe know this so it makes no sense for Chloe, of all people, to encourage Clark to reveal all nor for Clark to want to.

Lana lies like a cheap rug, has never supported Clark as a real friend, much less, love interest would and we have never seen anything about her that would warrant this kind of obsessive devotion on Clark's or anyone else's part.

This season was supposed to be about Clark stepping up and getting over Lana because he finally admits (as he did recently while on Red K) that he has thought about a relationship with Chloe, the girl who DOES support him and helps him whenever the chips are down. What this ultimately amounts to is showing us a Clark who is such a coward, he can't accept his destiny, hasn't got the cojones to enter into a real, honest romance with the one girl who is always there for him because he's afraid he might lose her support if things didn't work out. So he backpeddles and still wants Lana. a girl who has always hated people who are different until they tried to con her into being all understanding and accepting. This is a girl who has always treated Clark like crap, took maybe five minutes to finally and formally run to Lex, Clark's enemy when she got in a snit, makes her bed with Lex and sleeps in it, even gets pregnant with his enemy's child, then lies to Lex and Clark both, playing them against each other with claims she loves them both. Lana has never deserved the hero's love and this has never been more clear. So why is Al Gough bringing us this crap?

This year was supposed to be about Clark FINALLY growing up, accepting his destiny and we all desperately hoped, kicking Lana to the curb for her horrible behavior at last. This is the same garbage we have been seeing since season one and it's beyond old. They make Clark a pitiful, abused man with no self respect and I cannot see this man ever being Superman.

I can only say that Al Gough has no clue what the Superman legend is really about and trying to make Lana, who is the same kind of awful character she is in the comics, the center of it is revolting. But of course, these guys try to convince me a lazy slacker who hates journalism is really Lois Lane and I don't buy that crap either.

Real fans know Chloe is the only true friend Clark has and if this show doesn't bring the real Clark, it's tanking and I won't miss it at all. Too bad because Tom Welling is the best Clark Kent ever but the guy gets nothing decent to work with. Smallville had so much potential and this is just shark jumping awful.

Erin SoundsOff - Smallville:
Thanks for the great review. By the way this is not the first time Chloe has referred to Clark as the man of steel, she has done so on other occasions. And for the record Lana and Clark have "been together."

Derek SoundsOff - Suggestions/Thoughts on Smallville:
I need an important favor. I know that the producers of Smallville are too busy to take "suggestions" from one of the fans of their show. But I want to talk about this season with them.

I hope the next seven shows are not going to get screwed up or anything. I mean this season as rocked so far.

The only thing I would have done differently would have been to play out the whole rebuilding the world thing after the Zod incident.

Talk about the blackout they had more. During the wedding episode they should have brought back Pete. I mean what better time than the wedding of one of your old friends.

They should also clarify if Brainiac was destroyed during the fallout episode. Did that black box from the ship also control Brainiac?

I like how Zod and the Phantom Zone are old school. They are old krypton business and the past of Clark he is taking care of them and Brainiac. I mean if he is off the show from this point forward at least say so. Was hoping that when season 5 had them (Lex and he) deciding to work together they would think about starting the Legion of Doom.

At least, after he got killed completely Lex could in tribute to him after they talked about it for awhile started the Legion himself.

Usually in the cartoons the same lineup would not always be there. This was with the super friends and how many times they changed it. Always new people on there, etc.

With him being gone that frees up a space for one of the others. Not saying a character limit is needed, but you could put someone else in his place.

And what happened to that Mikhail guy from the 5th dimension? We last saw him during the season 4 episode Jinx. On there he was taken I read somewhere to 33.1 the first time we hear f it.

Although I don't like him that much, it's not about what I want or like. Fans want him and to some they will like him best. They need to use him.

But I think what they also missed out on was using the Martian Manhunter more. Would have kept him in during static episode. Brought him in during the 9th or 10th one then used him in Justice episode. You could still bring him back during a third show, and then bring him back once more to meet the Justice League.

Me I read something from 2/10 that he would be back on there more phantoms. Got to thinking this was before he was on there again. Got my hopes up that this talking about a third appearance.

What I wished also the Cyborg arc should have been used again. The military angle was used for the first time since last seasons Aqua show. This should be used more.

But what I think will happen is that Zod and Lana did something and that is why the baby is special.

Also would have ended the last show with Justice members all coming back and Clark introducing them to Martian Manhunter could have been 3rd or 4th showing of him. Tell them the phantoms are all destroyed and set up him leaving to go on the train. This point forward show the Justice League. Nothing else bring John on there then for the first time as a member.

Please I am begging you to write them I can't find out how. Write me back please I need your help on this matter they need to create this series.

There is a possible way of doing this and even bringing Batman and Robin onto it. Do you want to hear more from me? If you have time I am begging you please write back to me.

I know you probably throw these away, this one time make an exception and write back to me. If nothing else give this to the producers or something. I mean email them since January this has been so strong in my heart I want nothing more than to see this and not be done in a bad way.

I mean they need to use real actors and not give us just another cartoon we have had enough of them over the years.

One good thing about this I for the first time ever am really into and knowing more thanks to the show about the League and Legion fascinating groups they are.

Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Madelyne Reed SoundsOff - Smallville - Great Job!:
Ed Martin has me cheering to high heaven with enthusiasm for Smallville's recent new episode, directed by Tom Welling, "Hydro". I was enthralled by its fast-paced story 'jab' that infused us with juicy additions to our characters' lives bringing us up-to-date on what's going on with them now. It was a joy to watch although I'm not fond of Water Creatures who become water. I over-analyze too much and can't help wondering where their clothes go or why they're not wet when they're reconstituted into solid form. I try not to dwell on it. However, this episode was very satisfying, yet succeeded in whetting my appetite for more and more of Smallville. Tom Welling's second outing as Director was beautifully interpreted. Great job! I've said it before, as in every series we devote ourselves to watch, it won't be the perfection we hope for in each new episode, but, overall, the disappointments are few, especially with SMALLVILLE. So many Smallville fans are quick to complain when they don't get whatever it is they'd like to see in an episode, but this series has continued to perform well and, yes, stay Fresh even into its sixth season. Fickle fans annoy me. A fantastic and wonderful STORY is being told here. It's way more than say Power Rangers type of action storytelling. That may be an extreme example of what I call the Superhero on Film Smorgasbord that's available to us, but if Smallville was anywhere halfway between what it is now and that, I wouldn't be watching it. Therefore, in my opinion, as it's been produced, Smallville really does get better with each new season.

October Road

Sharon Hale SoundsOff - October Road
I don't watch too much TV, but October Road is one I won't miss. Watching this show is like reading a well written book that you just can' put down. It will be a tragedy if this show doesn't end up on the Fall lineup.

Alisha G SoundsOff - October Road
This show cannot go off the air! It's the first show in ages that only specifically focuses on character development. It is done well enough where it's almost like watching an amazingly written novella. Once you start reading, you can't put the book down and once you get to the end, you don't want it to be. The end of every episode is like this for me…I want more.
I love October Road!

M. Gomez SoundsOff - October Road
The new show October Road is great! I was traveling and missed the second episode and I am not too happy about it. I am eagerly waiting for 9pm to roll around so that I can watch some more. Please give this show a chance to become something real. I want to see how everything works out for the characters.

Leanne M SoundsOff - October Road
I LOVE the show October Road. It has a great cast, a strong plot and it has already sucked me in. I would be really upset if they ever canceled it. Please keep it on the air!!

Sharon SoundsOff - October Road
October Road should remain on ABC's schedule. It's well done and I want to see how the characters develop and the story unfolds.

Gilmore Girls

Kaylee Brown SoundsOff - Gilmore Girls:
Hi there! I have come to a conclusion on the ups and downs of Gilmore Girls. When I compare this season's writing to previous years, I think that it was funniest in seasons 1-6. I believe that the writing went down at the beginning of the seventh season. When it's Tuesday I say to myself that I will TiVo Gilmore Girls and right when American Idol is over I will watch it. When I go up to watch Gilmore Girls I don't get as excited as I used to, only because I know it doesn't tickle me as much. I think that [former executive producer] Amy Sherman-Palladino had a much better perspective than this new person -- I forget his name at the moment. I hope this feedback will help you. Thanks for your time, Kaylee Brown

Editors Note: Twelve-year-old Kaylee Brown, daughter of Ford Motor Media managing director Kevin Brown, took exception to Ed Martin's recent column in which he praised the seventh season of the maturing Gilmore Girls.

Madelyne Reed SoundsOff Gilmore Girls Couples:
It's obvious that so many of us have our 'favorite' couples. I am one of those who thought, at one time, that Luke & Lorelai were supposed to be together. That was, however, after Christopher's DETOUR with the mother of his little daughter, his ex-wife. I was disappointed in him and sorry for Lorelai, because I could see that she still had a deep bond with Christopher and that they seemed like two halves of the same coin when they were together. I felt sorry for Lorelai since she seemed to be the wiser, more mature of the two who had been waiting for Christopher to grow up, and I think that he knew that and was trying. However, there were new 'girls' who had entered his life that he showed responsibility for. It changed the landscape for their possible future. Lorelai let us know that she did not want to grow old alone. She reached out and there was 'the Max fiasco', and then she took a good look at Luke and what they had been sharing with each other…then chose him. After all that's happened, the powder keg that was thrown in WAS April, but Luke was too indecisive even before she entered his life. It was the way he disregarded Lorelai and her feelings and the importance she was supposed to have in his life that demolished their relationship. So, it was no surprise to me when she ran to Christopher for a safe refuge from the storm & turmoil that she & Luke's relationship became. I believe that Christopher is ready to love Lorelai the way she deserves and wants to be loved, and the way he'd always wanted to, but wasn't sure how. I AM HAPPY SHE'S WITH CHRISTOPHER…FINALLY!!

Caroline Ensler SoundsOff - Gilmore Girls Are Back!!
I loved the season premiere of Gilmore Girls! I'll admit, I was a little bit apprehensive about watching this season, considering that Amy Sherman is gone, in addition to the events that took place in last season's finale. I was pleasantly surprised however during the premiere. The show seems to be in good hands with David Rosenthal. Tonight's episode was one of the funniest Gilmore episodes I have seen in a long time. Although I am not happy about the Luke and Lorelai breakup, I am very confident in saying that this will be a great season for Gilmore Girls. I just hope that it will not be the last…
What Do You Think?

Battlestar Galactice

Brian D SoundsOff - Battlestar Galactica: Excellent point about Baltar's accent! I have seen the show and thought it was a pretty good episode but didn't see the significance of the accent explanation. Makes sense the smart egomaniac would make himself sound smarter.

I too, am happy to see Seelix gaining some more screen time, hopefully, as a pilot. Her name has been used before, as far back as season one's Kobol's Last Gleaming Part 2. I hope she's not a expendable nugget!

Brian D SoundsOff - Adama's Speech on Battlestar Galactica:
OK Joe, although I misplaced Adama's speech, I still feel it was a great episode that it seems will be a "love it" or "hate it" for many fans. But there is one thing I'll agree with you on: If you find out how to kill The War At Home, let me know, I'd love to help.

And as for this past week's episode, I think you're spot on. If any views of the fleet were sacrificed for Unfinished Business, it was well worth it for the amount they gave us this time. Looking forward to this first half season finale.

Brian D SoundsOff - Battlestar Galactica:
"Nothing Happened", Are You Kidding???
:
Unfinished Business was an excellent episode. No outside shot of the Galactica? Do you need to be reminded at the beginning of every show that they are on a space ship?

The episode filled us in on some important character information about what happened in those beginning days of New Caprica.

Nothing happened? Did you listen to Adama's speech at the end of the episode? Watch it again, there is your point and there is your excellence.

It's reviews like these for other shows such as The Sopranos and Lost that are killing these shows. Nothing happened! Maybe if you opened your mind to think about an episode instead of looking for the cool elements constantly you might enjoy a series even more. Another thing - the writers and producers were talents enough to put together an excellent show and despite your mistake criticism of "nothing happened", you have place some trust that they will continue to deliver, or you might as well stop watching.

Jenni Cro SoundsOff - Battlestar Galactica It's Fraken Great!
When Lis and I came home Friday night to my brother's earnest scolding for missing Battlestar Galactica I knew we were in for a treat! Instead of Saturday morning cartoons we collected ourselves in front of the family room big screen TV in our pajamas to watch this amazing episode…and boy was my brother right! Later conversation escalated to my brother admitting that he cried during the scene of Ellen's death and exclamations about having gone insane if it were not for the ability to skip through the commercials to exclamations about Solo-esc Apollo maneuver that saved Galactica's butt, could have only been improved by the battle cry "Frak you!" With an episode full of "you think that was shocking, watch this!" moments, such as Adama's Atmo-Jump, to Kaycee not being Kara's daughter (which was Lis' prediction last week), to the Pegasus' kamikaze take down&hekkip;exactly what are we to expect next?! Needless to say, we were left sockless and holding onto our purple sweatpants.

Dexter

MediaVillage Readers SoundOff - Who is the Ice Truck Killer on Dexter?
Is it Dexter's Sister, the Witness at Angel of Mercy Hospital, Dexter's Real Dad, or Someone New…

What Do You Think?

Blopndyloks SoundsOff - Who is the Ice Truck Killer?
I think the ice truck killer could be the witness at the Angel of Mercy Hospital. The dork that Dexter's sister and the lieutenant were interrogating. He seemed sort of creepy and didn't come across as a looky-loo to me.

Brett H SoundsOff - My thoughts on who the Ice Truck Killer is?
Who's the Ice Truck Killer on Dexter? His sister.
Look at the hints: she was there in the hospital with Dexter and their dying father when, to her utter disbelief, the father talks about how "special" Dexter is (then the evil nurse just happens to disappear); she "found" the ice truck; she has the confidence of the hookers who are being killed; she probably has access to his apartment; she would know all about the places/pictures of Dexter's past; she's living in Dexter's shadow; finally, look at the eye peeking out of the Mercedes' truck. Time will tell!

Debra Lobdell SoundsOff - Who is the Ice Truck Killer
The Ice Truck killer is undoubtedly someone that has not yet been introduced on the show. Michael C. Hall is amazing. I thought he was a tight, creepy, icky dweeb on Six Feet Under. Now he's "cool" in his own serial-killer way. Perhaps sadly, but this man is my hero. He's on the side of the law…kinda…and doing the world a favor by saving tax dollars that would otherwise go toward a big long trial process.

Robert Carroll SoundsOff - The Ice Truck Killer Is??
I have thought from episode two that the ice truck killer is Dexter's sister. This seems to be the only logical explanation. She has intimate knowledge of Dexter's past, she is always in the right place at the right time, she is almost never in Dexter's flashbacks, and has anyone figured out that the ice truck killer only KILLS (Tucci did not get killed) prostitutes. Anyone remember were the sister worked before homicide? (VICE) working as an undercover prostitute. Then the killings started as soon as she started trying to get moved to homicide. I actually hope that it is not her because I LOVE the show and don't want it to be so obvious.

Barry Kravette SoundsOff -- How Can Anyone Watch Dexter?
I watched three episodes of this disgusting tripe, Why, I wasted almost three hours of my time I don't know. This is one of the sickest shows ever to be seen on any medium. The title actor is nothing more than a savage cretin who takes the law into his own hands, he should get a needle in prison this is more merciful than his form of hideous justice. Shame on you Showtime ,and all of those who watch this junk

Michael Delia SoundsOff - One Terrific Program - Dexter:
WHOA!!! This is one terrific program. Michael C. Hall is perfectly cast in this. He was great in Six Feet Under and better here. I haven't been this glued to a TV screen since Northern Exposure. I believe we will find that Dexter's Biological father or some other blood relative is the Ice Truck killer. It's all in the genes ya know…

Michael Stanbridge SoundsOff - Dexter:
I love the way Dexter has been so perfectly captured on the screen. There are almost no liberties taken with the original text as a main plot. I have started a little community of Dexter Fanatics and would love to link to your reviews if you would allow it. You are definitely capturing the spirit of how the fans appreciate this great show.

Nina DiPaulo SounsOff - I'm a Dexter-aholic too:
I am in total agreement about Dexter - such a clever show! They have the perfect actor -he seems so coldhearted around the criminals & businesslike - but he does show a sensitive side when talking about family & Rita and he has a sense of humor. I was one of the ones boycotting Showtime for dumping Dead Like Me I absolutely loved that show! I also have started watching Brotherhood Wow that's allot of testosterone in one family including their mother!

Whitey Chapin SoundsOff - On Being a Dexter-aholic:
In reference to Jacki's article on Dexter - I wholeheartedly agree with you. Dexter is an amazing show. He is a killer, yet he is a kind, well-meaning person. His voiceovers are extremely effective, and the mood is just right.

I also want to give a shout-out to Showtime as a whole. They are doing great work with The L Word, Sleeper Cell, Weeds, Brotherhood & Dexter. I don't know where to start in praising these shows. They are all A+ in my book. What Do You Think?

Michelle Holmes SoundsOff on House:
The show House is a good one but the show has one flaw that I would have thought the producers would have caught. I'd like to know how much the person got paid to help with the details. You, the producer and executives are paid to much for details if you did. Someone has been ripped off big time. Details, details, details.

Sophia Larmond SoundsOff on House:
House you are my favourite character because you are brutally honest and I like this show so much that me and my boyfriend fight over the control whenever you come on Tuesday nights because he wants to watch sports, but I'm not having it. I put the remote in my bra till its all over, then we watch reruns on USA. I hope the drama will be on for a long time cause its the only show that I don't fall asleep. Love you all.

Studio 60

Lou America SoundsOff to Studio 60:
Well, after watching six episodes of Studio 60 and hearing of its impending cancellation. I am saddened by what our culture has become. How is it possible that Deal or No Deal has more cultural impact than the excellent writing and acting of Studio 60? Sorkin and Sclamme week after week make the best of high-brow humor accessible and all anyone can comment on is "Nevada Day"? How funny is that? Or even Jesus as the FCC guy. This is funny stuff the way West Wing was great political stuff. TV people have never been a champion of the brilliant. Only favoring the mundane and easy.

Maren Yeska SoundsOff - My Doubts About Studio 60:
As readers of my blog, Married to the Media know, I have had my doubts about Studio 60 from the start but have been trying hard to like it. I too, am a life-long TV junkie and a lover of "the biz." and I applaud Sorkin for honoring the history of TV and of Comedy in this episode. The story of Eli and his colleagues, and Matt and Danny's awe of him gave me Goosebumps too. I even said to my husband at one point, "They might be starting to get me with this one (episode.)"

However, there were other things about this episode that still, to this day, bother me. First and most important, Columbus OH is NOT on the other side of Pluto, last I checked… and I cannot imagine that anyone who is of baby boomer age or thereabouts has NEVER heard of Abbott and Costello or the "Who's on First" routine. I think BERT AND ERNIE even did a takeoff of it at one point, as have countless other comedians. Besides, you would think that parents who have a SON who has succeeded in comedy to the point where he is a cast member on a nationally televised comedy show would have picked up just A LITTLE about the history of (and a reverence for) great comedy by now. Surely any kid striving to make it in comedy would have been listening to comedy albums and watching comedy shows every now and then while growing up. Just a thought.

Also, as much as I liked the Eli story, I knew INSTANTLY as Tom was describing to his parents the writers that were blacklisted as he did the tour that ELI would turn up to be one of them.

AND, I still can't stand Harriet. But that's a topic for another day. All in all, the episode was the best I had seen to this point, and it did tug at this old TV junkie's heart. As a good show should, and as Sorkin has often done very well.

Daniel Wineman SoundsOff - Studio 60:
The actress playing Harriett in Studio 60 is terrible! Where is her comedic talent? We finally get to see an onstage skit where she has a chance to show us why she's the star talent and we get a stone-faced, seriously bland line reading. I'd also like to mention that Nate Coddry is lacking in charisma, charm and this type of comedic talent. He's had a couple of times to show off his timing and line reading and he's been the opposite of funny. I love the show but HATE this casting. I fear this will be the reason why I'll quickly grow tired of the show. How did these actors get through the pilot stage?!

How I Met Your Mother

Jonathan L'Ecuyer SoundsOff How I Met Your Mother:
I couldn't agree more. HIMYM is one of the best shows on television today. It mixes drama with comedy perfectly, great ensemble, Barney is just awesome, a possible Fonzie-like iconic character if enough people ever discover the show. I hope it runs for many years to come… and I can't wait to find out how Ted met the kids' mother… But, I can wait awhile.
What Do You Think?

G.A. SoundsOff - How I Met Your Mother:
Kudos to recognizing the smartest and hippest(relatively) new sitcom on TV.

Mariam Akbar SoundsOff - Her take on Lost:
I think they are all dead. They are lost soles. I believe they all died in that plane crash. They just don't know it yet, they are seeing things that happened to them in their previous life. And The Others are the living, who are trying to save them, or trying to rest their lost souls.
Just a theory!
Let me know if anyone has another theory or explanation to what they are going through.

Gerald Elrod SoundsOff - Cancellation of Surface:
I am very disappointed, I have been a loyal fan of NBC for thirty years and I understand that NBC has had some problems however not returning Surface was just to much I mean at the very least you could have created a TV show ending the series instead of leaving us with a cliff hanger. This was a great show and people were really starting to catch on I know I am only one viewer but just maybe that sums up all of your problems you guys really make it hard to stay loyal.

Boston Legal

Television Addict SoundsOff in Response to Jack Myers' Blog about Boston Legal:
Oh come on. Candice Bergen looks great. And Alan going after her is completely in character. But the show seems to have abandoned that storyline for now anyway. Sally Heep's reappearance is nice. Brad and Alan going at it again is a nice change too. And I really enjoyed seeing Alan in the courtroom again in the October 16 episode. I think David's off the phone.
What Do You Think?

Donna Aceto SoundsOff - The Death of a Character on Ghost Whisperer:
What are you thinking by killing off the character Andrea in Ghost Whisperer? Her friendship with Melinda is one the best things about the show. Myself and my coworkers were stunned and dismayed when the last episode turned out the way it did. I had hoped, with the airing of the first show this season, that maybe it would turn out she wasn't really dead afterall. Such a huge disappointment! The woman who plays Andrea (Aisha Tyler) is a wonderful actress. I (we) hope to see more of her even if it isn't on Ghost Whisperer.

Lori Birnbaum SoundsOff - Ghost Whisperer:
Regarding Donna Aceto's comment about Ghost Whisperer: I love this show too, and was SO shocked by last season's finale and Andrea's death. It was SO well done that we never saw it coming, and I couldn't wait for this season's premiere to see how it was to be resolved. I'm sad that the character was really killed off, since Aisha and Jennifer had great chemistry, and they were fun to watch. Maybe she can be brought back from time to time somehow, and hopefully, they won't kill off Camryn Manheim this year!

Friday Night Lights

Bhavana Smith SoundsOff - Friday Night Lights:
Does anything good happen on Friday Night Lights? Every minute of this show is filled with hate and conflict. When something good does happen, it just leads to more conflict. Give these kids (and us viewers) a break!

Brian M SoundsOff to Ed Martin's Commentary on Veronica Mars and Friday Night Lights:
I agree with everything you said about Veronica Mars… Love that show. I disagree with you however on Friday Night Lights… I loved the book and the movie… But this TV show - although it looks, sounds, and is acted great - is the same exact story line as the book and the movie. The only difference is that it takes place in present day - not in the early 90's. I wanted to watch this show but after the first two episodes I have decided to stop. Different story lines would have been better. I don't need to see the same exact story three times. The score of the show is the same as well. I loved the movie and book but I don't need to see a TV show stretch out the story line… This concept would have worked better if they didn't make the movie in the first place. I feel I already know the ending of this series so why bother watching it.
Just my two cents.
What Do You Think?

David Barry SoundsOff - Friday Night Lights:
Regarding Friday Night Lights Needs You, by Ed Martin -- MediaVillage 10/10/06.

You're kidding about "best new drama of the season", right? If FNL is the best new drama on TV, then I feel sorry for regular TV viewers.

I happened to catch some of the show last week, as my wife had on the TV in the kitchen, while preparing dinner. Being a sports fan, I took a look. I was mostly curious to see if they would make the football sequences believable. And they did a pretty good job, in terms of staging the ON-field action. But, that's about all.

The storyline is formulaic and predictable. Come on, did anybody really think the sophomore back-up QB would NOT throw a touchdown pass on the last play to win the game? It would have been more dramatic if they would have lost. Then you would have some real emotion and set up the struggle to overcome adversity in the coming episodes.

I'm sorry Ed, this is not a story "darn near impossible to be moved by". Heck, if you have to paralyze the star player in the very first episode to inject some emotion into the show, it is already sliding downhill from the start. What's the next heart-rending moment, Ed? Is Jason's cheerleader girlfriend going to turn up pregnant? "He'll never get to play catch with junior?" Sniff.

Which brings me to the real reason this show will not have any viewers. The majority of the episode focused on the schoolboy athletes drinking beer and fumbling (and all that implies) with their teenage cuties.

I don't bring this up to be prudish. I played ball for four years at an "out in the sticks" high school in Texas, in the 1970's. We certainly did our share of beer drinking and staying out late.

The problem for FNL is, parents don't want to be reminded, especially by a TV show, what their little darlings are really doing when they leave the house. They darn sure don't want to see it glamorized by a bunch of Abercrombie & Fitch models pretending to be football players and cheerleaders.

Hardly compelling stuff for the "best drama of the season". Oh, and a move to Mondays would certainly sack FNL. There's a reality gridiron drama playing out on ESPN's Monday Night Football. As Dandy Don Meredith used to sing on MNF back in the day, " Turn out the Lights…"

Krystal Sheets SoundsOff - Keep the Chipmunks a Cartoon!:
I love the Chipmunks as a cartoon. I don't want them to change. I'm 16 and watching them brings me good memories. Don't change them into a nature show. I LOVE them the way they are. Just make a new movie like "Alvin and the Chipmunks, When Zombies Attack" or something. Just don't change them!!!!!

Summer SoundsOff in Response to TVFanBlogger Lisa LaValle's The Case Against Christopher:
In relation to the "Case Against Christopher" article posted here, as a moderator of the forum you're quoting posts from, it alarms me that you're quoting posts at all in an "official" article, especially without the permission of the posters, especially without clearly stating that no single opinions on the forum reflect the site. It's largely irresponsible and biased. In addition, I don't see how Christopher's lack of a college degree (which actually isn't a proven fact) is a "failure." In addition, he'd made a steady income for himself before his inheritance. If you're watching the same show as me, you'd know the message is that you don't have to be college educated, filthy rich, or perfect to be a good person, or a success. Talk about a double standard- Luke nor Lorelai completed college, but somehow Christopher's lack of a degree is a negative point?

Sally McNally SoundsOff - America's Next Top Model:
Is it just me, or is every gay, including myself, waiting for the drag episode. Here's how it would work. Tyra would come out in ten-inch platform shoes, a weave 2 feet tall, oversized costume jewelry (with a tiara, duh), and excessive layers of make-up. She would announce that for the rest of the episode, all ANTM's must refer to her as Naylona Cross. Then, she announces the drag challenge by introducing the uber fabulous drag queen of all drag queens, Lady Bunny. Each ANTM girl would receive a makeover by Lady Bunny and her drag staff, and then have to model the ridiculously funny outfit. No? Come on…you know you would love it.

Lori Birnbaum SoundsOff - Cancellation of Smith:
I CAN'T believe CBS canned Smith! Well, I can believe it, because these days, it doesn't take a network very long to make such a decision. I thought Ray Liotta and the entire cast were great, all fit their roles well, and the show DIDN'T drag!! I was hooked from the opening seconds and watched through the closing minutes of episode three last week!

How do you (Mr. Media Exec) expect a show to build a following if you don't give it time to find its audience? Last week it had its lowest numbers yet, but c'mon, there was the debut of ABC's The Nine, right? People are trying to find out what they want to commit to, so Smith should've been expected to dip a bit, but with The Nine being SO Boring, Smith might've picked right up!

The nets never cease to amaze me… I thought I had allot of shows to look forward to, great movie and TV stars, but NOOOOoooo! I'll have to stick with Ghost Whisperer, Survivor, Jericho, Shark and SOAPNET!
What Do You Think?

Barbara Guy SoundsOff - Don't Cancel Smith:
I have never sent in a complaint before, but I just couldn't let go of this one. I have been intrigued with the series Smith, every week sitting on pins and needles for the next episode. Yes! It isn't your feel good loveable show, but the acting is awesome. And how they pull off these huge heists are incredible. Also, I heard very little promotion for this show, I don't think the CBS Family wanted it to be a hit because of the content, all the other shows on CBS have done well, had tons of promotion. Shame on you CBS, you should give this show more PR and bring it back.
A Lover of Smith.
What Do You Think?

Richard Cohen SoundsOff - The Office:
The third paragraph is right on the money! I could not have said it better myself, it is as if you read my mind. When Jim and Pam kissed last season I was unsure if The Office could pull it off - an ongoing, semi-serious storyline. Not only are they pulling it off, but they are adding other ongoing storylines as well.

Well said, Ms. Satenstein, well said.

Sophia Kelly SoundsOff - The Office A Very Un-Funny and Boring Show:
I hate The office. It's negative, un-funny, boring, offensive to women and minorities. It's so annoying and boring, I'd rather watch curling, golf or community access television than this program. It seems amazing to me it won an award. Who voted for it? Post modern 22 year olds who like trailer park boys?
What Do You Think?

Karina Cassidy SoundsOff - High School Musical:
I love High School Musical so much that I am going out the door to go down to the shops and get it. Ah, I'm back know so I can sit down and listen to Breaking Free. What Do You Think?

Nancy Gunkel SoundsOff - Amazing Race:
I was very upset at the Amazing Race in Vietnam. I did not like the part where they visited the prison camp. They raced through it without any respect. Only the Asians (Erwin & Godwin) and the couple from PA spoke about our men. I lost several friends in Vietnam and this was totally inappropriate. I have observed the show honoring other countries' religions and beliefs. During the visit to the prison, our men who suffered deserved to be mentioned and honored.
What Do You Think?

Kara Rozansky SoundsOff - Degrassi: The Next Generation:
OK I love that the new season of Degrassi: The Next Generation opened up with brand spankin' new credits. The new twist on the old credits made me feel like the show is ready to go even more there than before. My only complaint? Could you please stop throwing that stupid mascot costume at JT's head?

Jo Harris SoundsOff - Lack of Buzz for The L Word:
The L Word is as good as I've seen. I would like to see more of the baby boomer group represented. Outside of Kit it seems like their world is made up of only certain ages. Granted they live in their own little world and the show is about them but the L community is made up of the baby boomers as well as these young things and all of us baby boomers watching would like to see a little bit of the "real world".
Throwing in a few older Lesbians would not hurt the show. Could also show the world that people that take care of the world in general etc. nurses, teachers, cops are part of the lesbians and not just executives type people. Also the softball teams for the bars are an intricate part of our lives. Why not have Kit's new place have a softball team? Keep up the good work. I have just spent the last 4 days watching borrowed DVDs/tapes. Have never heard of it till now. Need to spread the word somehow to people that do not have Showtime. How else will they know to get it? The Gayvine is good but there are a lot of people that would enjoy this show even if they are not gay but they have to know about it to do that.
What Do You Think?

Note: Rumor has it that possibly two-yes two Stargate SG-1 movies will be produced straight to DVD. Nothing set in stone, but there is still hope.

D.M. Winton SoundsOff to Save (Stargate SG-1:
I too am a HUGE Stargate fan, Ever since the movie first hit theaters… I even subscribed to Showtime just to view Stargate SG-1. Even after the three new (semi) lame characters debuted recently, I STILL watched, hoping they'd get better. I say: BRING JACK (O'Neill played by Richard Dean Anderson) AND THE BALDHEADED GENERAL (Lt Gen. George Harris played by Don S. Davis) BACK and WATCH THE RATINGS GO BACK UP. I can't emphasize how much better SG-1 is than other sci-fi shows. IT'S DEFINITELY WORTH THE COST.

Chris Sandifer SoundsOff - Save Stargate SG-1:
Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis are the only two shows I will watch. So I was on Gateworld a month or so ago when I see a headline, Stargate SG-1 Cancelled. My first thought was: SciFi is insane. They cancelled a show that had been running sucessfully for ten years! My fellow gateheads and I are extremely pissed off at the SciFi execs. Many of our lives revolve around the two shows and they just killed one of them off. Now apparently SciFi has some cheap skate contract with MGM that doesn't allow TPTB (the powers that be; ie the producers) or MGM go to another network to let the program live on. What an a-hole thing to do! SciFi's reason for canceling Stargate is because it costs too much money. Well, if they would stop making those stupid sci-fi original movies that horribly suck and nobody watches, maybe they would have enough money to keep airing the show. To conclude this gripe, I have one thing to say, and that is the SciFi execs responsible for the cancellation are complete retards and should not be in control of such a major business.

Elles Guatney SoundsOff - Save Stargate SG-1
I've been a fan of Science Fiction since I was a whee little kid, still watching Sesame Street. Stargate SG-1 is by far my favorite Sci-Fi TV show, and on August 21, I logged onto Gate World to find that it was cancelled.
Needless to say I was greatly upset by the news. The cancellation, in my mind, was pointless. If it wasn't ratings related, then why?
Stargate SG-1 is a great show. A show that became a major part of my life, which is why I am now boycotting Sci-Fi channel of all shows except the Stargate franchise.
The rest of what I want to say is too emotional and angry to put into words…So I'll end now with this… SAVE SG-1!
What Do You Think?

Heather SoundsOff to As the World Turns:
The storyline was too gory for me, and it being on daytime TV also upset me because where you may live kids were in school, but not here. Kids not already attending school are home and I would hope parents are aware that it was happening and the young kids could see it. Turning on the TV for example, then when the pictures come on screen, the poor child sees a person being stabbed. I would hope parents are making sure their kids are watching cartoon or Sesame Street. I know there is also the issue of sex scenes and nudity and foul language. But the last thing I want to see is a "Friday the 13th" storyline on a soap opera. I am 35 years old and I couldn't watch As The World Turns although I wanted to figure out who it is. What Do You Think?

J Williams SoundsOff to Showtime:
First Dead Like Me and now Huff! What is the matter with Showtime? They hook you on cutting edge shows with incredible casts and then yank them. While keeping drivel like The L Word which makes network soap operas look like Masterpiece Theater. What Do You Think?

Elaine Hernvall SoundsOff - The CW - Everwood & Runaway:
Well now that Runaway has proved to be less then you thought, perhaps you will come to your senses and put EVERWOOD back on the air. You stated that it was not as good a lead in as 7th Heaven. Perhaps not, but that was no basis to drop one of the smartest shows on TV ever. Everwood has superb acting, story lines plus the wonderful TREAT WILLIAMS, and those young people on the show, I have never seen more talented people for their age. Your problem with Everwood was you kept moving it around and running re-runs, so even me a devoted fan couldn't find it half the time, and when I did it was a re-run. It is obvious you had some personal problems with this show, because if you had half a brain you would have picked it up and put it in a time slot that would work. Too bad you people in suits are so dense that you wouldn't know quality work if it bit you. As for 7th Heaven, I only watched it because it was the lead-in for Everwood, believe me I really got sick and tired of the show, this character doesn't work as a Minister. Too dumb, too self centered, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? As for Stephen Collins, he is the only reason I watched at all. As of now the only thing I watch on KTLA is the Morning News, couldn't care less about your nighttime lineup.

A MediaVillager SoundsOff on the New CW:
Since CW's President seems "to know the age group we're going after"…perhaps she'd better take another look…18-34 are having difficulty surviving in this world…and many are going back home with Mom and Dad…cancelling Everwood for that reason is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. So since they don't care about anyone over 34, I and many of my friends are tuning out that network. When push comes to shove…we're the buying power!!!

You want 18 to 34? Try having a network with inane video games and silly "real life" nonsense…that's their mentality! What Do You Think?

McLeod's Daughters

WE Network Responds to SoundOffs Regarding the Cancellation of McLeod"s Daughters
To the fans of McLeod's Daughters:
The network has decided that McLeod's Daughters run on WE will not continue after season 3. The season finale aired on 4/1. We encourage you to visit the official McLeod's Daughters website at http://mcleodsdaughters.ninemsn.com. KOCH Vision (www.kochvision.com) will be releasing the complete first season of McLeod's Daughters in the U.S. Its tentative release date is October 3, 2006. This boxed set will include all 22 episodes from season one as well as the original 90-minute McLeod's Daughters TV movie starring Jack Thompson. Lisa Chappell, the actor playing Claire wanted to leave McLeod's Daughters to spend more time with her family and to pursue a musical career so she was written out of the show. We thank all the loyal fans of the show for your support.

Lorene Brubaker SoundsOff - We Need to Save McLeod's Daughters:
Hi… I'm here to sound off about McLeod's Daughters. It's been a couple months now (since April 1) that we have been without MD in the United States. I know that I am missing it desperately and I am sure there are thousands, maybe even tens of thousands, of you out there that are missing it too!!!! When the WE network (WE - women's entertainment, yeah right) took MD off the air, they did it at a time when we lost one sister in an accident and never had the chance to mourn the loss of that character. I can't believe that there isn't one network out there that can't see the total genius of this show. It is about four women who run a working ranch in the outback of Australia. It is beautifully written, the acting is nothing less than superb, the music is fantastic, the storylines are moving, funny, compassionate, creative, enjoyable but most of all very, very REAL. You can sit down to watch an hour of McLeod's and be totally swept away into a world of love, loyalty, friend ship, intrigue, mystery, comedy and actually feel what they feel. I know when I watch, I am so involved in the storyline and the characters, I am actually there with them, feeling their pain, or their humor, laughing right along with them or getting angry right along with them or at them in some cases!!!! Not many other shows I watch actually do this to me. I watch them, and enjoy them, but I am not swept up into their world. I watch them from a distance as a form of entertainment. But with McLeod's Daughters… I AM THERE!!!!! I get totally lost in the show.

That is why we need to get this wonderful show back on the air. We need to fight, and let everyone know what a wonderful show it truly is and that it NEEDS to find a new home, on a new network here in the United Sates that will realize and understand MD for what it is…a truly wonderful show. Many networks are going to be airing new shows in their fall lineups, and as we all know, not all of these shows will make it… they may need a back-up show, so why not give McLeod's Daughters a chance to prove itself … COME ON TV EXECUTIVES!!!!! Give MD a chance. It already has a built in fan base, and it has been picked up for a 7th season in Australia. Why can't you just see it for what it is… REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GREAT TV!! PLEASE… Give it a try!!!!!

Thanks for listening!!!!!!

Patt Haugen SoundsOff - TV's Crappy Sound and We Need a Better Universal Remote
A must for television designers and TV show technologists. Provide television sets with two separate audio controls, one for the talking portion and one for the background music. As the population gets older in larger numbers, these folks are turning to hearing aids to help them hear. Talk to someone who wears hearing aids, ask that someone if he or she enjoys movies/television since having to wear hearing aids. Sometimes the background is SO loud, even I can't understand what is being said, and I don't need hearing aids yet.

Another thing that will help the growing older population is a remote manufactured by the television company that has larger buttons and color coded sections. Seeing impaired people aren't the only ones finding it difficult to punch the tiny buttons on the remote. And, universal remotes just won't do the trick unless one can access the menu too.

What good does it do to produce a television show if a big share of the population can't hear it, find it, or understand it?? What Do You Think?

Dave Adams Sounds Off to Dawn Ostroff Regarding Everwood:
Dawn Ostroff,
This is my 39th year in film and television, including 13 years of experience and training in Hollywood. Your position is about creative control. Taking a show like EVERWOOD off the air and keeping the 'soap box' 7th Heaven, whose day day is a 'silly stay at home' wimp, is outrageous. I admire the producers and show premise, but some nights, it is just 'so ridiculous written' it's hard to even believe in any sense of the word. Some of the shows have possibly 30% good dialogue and the rest of the hour is so 'soap box' it makes fun of 'real life.' Everwood represents some seasoned actors and with great dialogue (story telling) each week. It is my opinion and millions of other viewers that this is the biggest mistake of your career. However, since you sit in the 'chair.' we have no choice but to accept your mistake.

Connie SoundsOff to Save Everwood
I love Everwood. I have my DVR set to record the entire series. I know full well Everwood is back on the air. My cable guide does not show that it is on Anywhere! I am writing you to express my dismay at not being able to find one of my favorite shows

Joe SoundsOff Another Fan of Everwood:
I am a fan of Everwood. I am not sure how many there are of us out there, but we need to band together and do something to try and stop Everwood from dropping off the face of the earth because of this UPN/WB merger. I am open to ideas to the best method to try and save the show; does anyone out there know any proven methods to let the decision makers know that we fans are here and we love and support the show.

This is the first year the Everwood as really gotten a good amount of critical praise for its quality of story and characters; it would be a shame to have it go out know when it has a chance to grow in viewer ship. I have written a letter to Dawn Ostroff, President UPN-TV, 11800 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90025. She will be in charge of CW network’s programming so we need to at least shoot off some letters of support for the show. I hope our efforts will be enough to save the show. What Do You Think?

Patt Fiala SoundsOff -Commander in Chief is a Great Show:
Isn't just like the networks to take a great show, Commander in Chief, and put it up against two blockbuster programs!!!! They finally take a chance, show a woman with a strong character in a drama, and then give it the ax. It was a FAMILY show (which are few and far between) and one that we were not embarrassed to watch. There's enough killing and maming and violence portrayed across all networks. Please give the show a chance to be successful in the time slot it originally had.

Lisa Yimm SoundsOff Are Programmers Deliberately Sabotaging Commander in Chief?:
To the programmers at ABC Primetime:
Can I just ask if you deliberately sabotaged any hope of COMMANDER IN CHIEF coming back by moving it to a time slot where it had to compete with the juggernaut that is ER?

Of course it was going to fail in the ratings....the show was put on hiatus just as it could have gained steam from Geena's Golden Globe win. What were you thinking? Couldn't you at least have left it in it's original airtime so that those got used to spending their Tuesday nights with MacKenzie Allen would know where to find her when the show came back?

CIC was the best new drama this season - on any network - period. Now, to find out that it's been cancelled? It's a shame really, as this show has such a stellar cast, with interesting and complex topical storylines, and heroes and villians you can really sink your teeth into. What Do You Think?

Glenn Beck SoundsOff - Living with Fran on the New CW Network:
I am writing again in hopes that someone at CW networks that has some power is listening. Please give Living With Fran a fresh chance on your network. I have truly come to love Fran's new show. I watched every week and now I don't know what my Friday nights will be like without the show. It deserves much better than what it got on WB. The show got better with each passing week. I always laughed and smiled.
I can only hope there is a chance for Fran continue growing the show. On a personal note she reminds me of my moms spirit and energy when I was little. Does anyone know where I could write her for a photo?
Just give the show a fresh start with support and I bet u will be surprised! What Do You Think?

Anna Katarzyna Rygiel SoundsOff on MySpace Concerns:
Yesterday in a news report on the WB Channel 11, it was stated that MySpace has been linked to the recent sexual assault of seven girls in Connecticut, where the offenders found and contacted the girls through their MySpace accounts, and later agreed to meet with them in person. In response, MySpace.com stated that it was "commited to providing a safe environment for its users."

It is strange how they can say that, but at the same time state that they have no real way of checking the ages of their users--my younger sister, age 14, has a MySpace account which she made by stating that she was 16. Now, her gallery of pictures, while not as bad as some I have seen, routinely gets comments from random older men stating how "beautiful" she is and how they'd love to meet her. The warning on the website that prohibits children under 14 to use the website is clearly ignored by most teens, and the website's promise to have 24-hour monitors and review each uploaded image is clearly not enough. Additionally, after I did a test search, I found that I could locate the towns and schools that many of these young girls are in--it is clearly a paradise for child predators.

It appears that any sort of stricter regulation has not been attempted thus far, and I feel the focus as of now should be on warning parents, who are often oblivious to the fa
